Don't forget Caleb Jones! I think Seth's lil bro will be a gem.

I agree, there are a few decent looking D available in the third and beyond such as:

Brendan Guhle, Caleb Jones, Veeti Vainio, Keoni Texeira, Nicholas Boka

I'm hoping we finish the draft with 3 or 4 new good D prospects ::D

With Benning going on record saying he wants to recuperate a 2nd round pick likely by trading a goalie + (perhaps Jensen). Who does everyone think could be a likely trading partner:

34 CBJ

35 Car

36 NJ

37 Bos

38 CBJ

39 SJ

40 Col

41 NJ

42 Ott

43 LA

44 TB

45 Cgy

46 Pitt

47 Winn

50 Min

51 Buff

52 Cgy

53 Cgy

54 Chi

55 Nash

56 St.L

Edmonton at 33 for Lack or Markstrom for Boston's 3rd

What about Jeremy Roy ?

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=151150

We keep talking about drafting a dman, I think we need a dman with offensive upside

Roy has the highest ppg as a 18 year old draft Eligible player in the chl. Probably most likely

To quarter back team Canada's power play at the wjc.

Uhhh... G, you wanna take this one?

Would be stoked to pick him up would fit our needs very nicely, is capable of scoring more goals than he put up this year, he might have been trying to work on the defensive side of his game.

PPG in CHL among draft-age defenseman.

Vande Sompel: 1.09

Andersson .96

Dunn .82

Dermott .74

Roy .93

Carrier .81

Loik .79

Meloche .77

Zboril .75

Provorov 1.02

Pilon .76

Juulsen .76

Playoff ppg:

Dunn 6g 10pts in 8gp

Dermott 5g 17pts in 19gp

Provorov 2g 13pts in 19gp

Vande Sompel could be this draft's Jordan Subban.

Provorov will likely go in the top-10.

Andersson seems to be quite underrated.

And Roy... PASS.

Dunn's playoffs was quite something.

People seem to be divisive over Roy.

One camp doesn't like the prospect of drafting a defenceman from the Q due to their poor history of development. Moreover, a "smaller" (by NHL defenceman standards), offensive defenceman. This camp questions whether or not he'll fit the style of play Benning wants if he can even develop into an NHL Dman. People in this camp generally like bigger two-way defenceman.

The other camp sees him also as a boom/bust prospect but with slightly more boom and less chance of bust. They like his first pass, PP QB and hockey IQ. His stats are great, especially his draft -1 season.

I would put myself in the latter camp although he wouldn't be my first pick at 23rd.

I'll add this:

PPG Team Point % Even Strength PPG

OHL

Vande Sompel: 1.09 23.95% .52

Andersson .96 23.44% .31

Dunn .82 20.74% .43

Dermott .74 15.57% .38

QMJHL

Roy .93 27.74% .37

Carrier .81 23.81% .49

Loik .79 21.18% .46

Meloche .77 22.52% .41

Zboril .75 20.12% .32

Chabot .62 18.39% .41

WHL

Provorov 1.02 21.63% .47

Pilon .76 16.20% .46

Juulsen .76 23.01% .38

Wotherspoon .58 22.58% .35

Carlo .40 15.06% .21

This helps to show who is getting points on the PP vs ES and who is benefiting or hurting from being on a particular team.
