#Canucks president Trevor Linden says "perhaps" (wry smile) Burrows is having some fun with media scrutinizing every moment of morning skate

Half of Alex Burrows' gear is in his stall in the room. Still with medical staff. #Canucks

Linden says he expects Burrows to play in Game 4, & doesn't expect Sven Baertschi to play after today's recall. #Canucks #Flames

I hope he plays..but man the fans there will have it out for him. He was the second coming of Gretzky till he was surpassed by other prospects.

I'm wondering if that's part of it - distraction. Not only for the fans, but the Flames players.

The players know the guy who pays their salaries traded this guy a couple months ago. So what better way to make a good impression with the GM than to lay the guy out?

Anything that takes opponents' minds off passing/shooting/scoring is a good thing.

No Barcheesy!??!
I think Bart's offence in the top 6 would help because we really only have three top 6 players - Sedin Sedin Vbrata.
Higgins is more of a bottom 6 player, Bonino has been underachieving greatly and been pretty awful this series (outside of a few good defensive plays, Burrows is arguably a top 6 but could argue he's not (skill wise).
It would have been risky to throw Bart in though

Or Burrows is actually hurt and the precautionary call-up was a good idea.

And wtf is the youngish 'AHL star' playing for anyway? To be called up? Yup.

Utica will live.

It's about development, not about Utica winning. It is more beneficial for Sven to get ice time down in Utica than to sit in the press box here. It's NOT about questioning the use of having a back-up plan here.

Erm... Recalling a guy who was cut from flames camp, made little to no impression in the nhl with them all season. Has struggled with the attention and pressure he was under with them and throwing him into probably the most high pressure situation possible, is this really a good idea?

The emergence of Monahan, Gaudreau and Jooris, not to mention having a player like Sam Bennett in the wings, made Baertschi expendable, even if Baertschi was a mediocre rookie with 18 goals and 40 points, it is nowhere close to the production Monahan and Gaudreau have given the flames, and Baertschi is not a 3/4 line player he is only fit for a top 6 offensive role... thats why he was traded.

He's only 22, and has the talent to be a top 6 forward next year, look at his game in edmonton, sure its one game but thats a pretty good first impression. If anything he has something to prove, and to play with some fire. Good trade for us considering we basically traded a second rounder for a first.

If you want a comparison of throwing someone with little playing experience into high pressure situations, look at Bennett... everyone has a boner for him, but he played one NHL game this season, and has been a force for calgary at 18...

Ah I see. Well it appears management doesn't agree. Probably because practice time with the NHL squad in a playoff atmosphere also counts as development.

However, since people here thought that WJC's would have been better than NHL icetime for Horvat, I can see where this line of thinking comes from. If the player is NHL-ready, then he is NHL-ready. At 22 with 69gp under his belt, Baertschi is NHL-ready. If not, wtf?
