The Detroit Red Wings are apparently opening their prospect cupboard as they approach the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Red Wings were relatively quiet at the trade deadline partially because they didn't want to deal 2013 first-round pick Anthony Mantha or their 2015 first-round pick. Detroit is now willing to consider parting with those pieces, according to Sportsnet's Damien Cox.

Expectations regarding Mantha were high following back-to-back 50-goal seasons in the QMJHL, but he recorded 33 points in 62 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins in his first professional season and added four points in 16 playoff contests. While that bumpy AHL debut isn't likely to hurt Mantha's trade value, the franchise no longer considers him untouchable like they once did.

Detroit holds the 19th overall pick at the draft.

They seriously lack RHD and Kevin's still good enough to play 2nd-3rd pair minutes, a replacement in Jensen who's also been struggling, and a decently high pick.

Being a true fan is great pears but Jensen is beyond struggling...

Mantha play his first pro season and averaged .5 ppg. That's not bad at all.

if this team finally admits its going to rebuild, then Edler to Detroit for 1st and Mantha is good. It's fair from both ways, but it would leave us with Tanev, Hamuis, Sbisa,

Again if this team decides they should rebuild then wow a 1st with mantha for Edler is a great way to start a rebuild. It will give this team 2 chances to draft, or better yet grab 2 defence-men in the first round.

Imagine the future, mantha, virtanen, kassian, cassels, horvat

although a pipe dream, the problem lies with the NTCs because Edler won't waive

Detroit VP Jim Devellano didn't have much good to say about Mantha this year. Attached article with his quote. Long story short, "Very, very disappointing." The Wings, who have been the gold star organization for drafting and developing don't give up on their prospects too often. Perhaps this isn't something the Canucks should touch.

I agree, if it's something like a Jensen for Mantha swap, or disappointment for disappointment.

I'd be all over that.
