His eye for defensive talent however in my opinion is without equal. Tryamkin, Juolevi, and Stecher? Brisebois, Olsen? Forgot about him but I doubt Benning has seen much of him since he was Russian and our Russian scouts were heavily involved with the pick. My guess is that he's a Russian pick. But Benning deserves credit for that pick too because we previously didn't pick Russians everq

Juolevi looks like a legit top pairing D, Tryamkin looks like a steal in the third round, Stecher looks like a coup on a free, Brisebois looks like a steal in the third round and Olson looks like a very good pick in the 7th round as he got 47 points last year in the WHL. I took it as you were saying Benning wasn't as good at drafting D talent as forward. Sorry about that I was tired

Popular Post Sean Monahan
Let's not forget that regardless of who scouted the player, JB would still have final say on whether they actually draft him or not. The scouting staff hasn't changed all that much over the last 10-12 years. It was believed to have been good when the Canucks found later round/undrafted gems like Bieksa, Edler, Hansen, Burrows, etc. then it was apparently crap while Gillis was in charge. The scouting department didn't just lose their ability, the person with the final say was making the wrong calls. JB seems to be making the right call more often than not.

Scouts present their research and findings on players. JB chooses the players. many people have a hard time understanding this.

Goalies- Demko in 2nd round, future number one, and then signed Garteig who may be a good backup, minimum, in a couple years. Forwards- Boeser, gaudette, Lockwood look like steals where they were picked to name a few. Only questionable one in my mind is virtanen just because of the players drafted around him doing well. But I think virts going to be real gud, it's just going to take time. Very true. I should have clarified. IMO Boeser should have gone around 7th in 2015 (hindsight I know), so I am quite happy with that pick at 23! And yeah, Lockwood and Gaudette - can't ask for more from those two stellar picks. And agreed on Virtanen. I hope that management and the coaching staff corrects their mistakes with him and marinates him the proper way in the AHL where he can regain form. I would even be in favour of him being there all year and perhaps part or all of next year. He seems immature but has loads of talent that I believe will in the future justify his spot at #6. We will see, I am an optimist.

Nuckin Kingsly
2 assists, and +2 for Brisbois last night. Up to 3-11-14 in 21 games.
clutesi
This all sounds great, but let's remember that cup winners usually have an all star, near Norris quality, defensemen and at least a couple all stars in addition. This all sounds good but I see that all-star. Here's hoping it's the Fin.
Bigturk8
Brisebois on the team Canada WJC selection roster.http://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/Team-Canada/Men/Junior/2016-17/Selection-Camp/Stats/team-rosters?teamid=128

Popular Post Harvey Spector
Brisebois is gonna be a beauty. Top 4 defenceman. Utica is gonna be loaded with quality D next year. Brisebois, Olson, Neill, Subban (maybe). Demko in goal. Zhukenov up front. Utica will be a powerhouse next year and will finally be showcasing Benning's picks for the last 3 years. Remember Benning's first draft was 2014, so the mid and late round picks are still playing in junior. But they will start playing in Utica as of next year so we finally get to see these guys as pros. Should be exciting. Of course the big guns will hopefully be on the Canucks roster, Virtanen, Boeser and Juolevi. I think next year is when we will finally see the fruits of JB's labour all coming together. He will have many of his draft picks either on the Canucks roster or in Utica. Good times are ahead. Just be patient...
