Baer.
2015 bias. Makes me think the writers only know this draft class (through recent memory) and a few standouts from other classes. TL;dr I disagree fully.
Spotted Zebra
Just doing a quick skim through, Griffin Reinhart at 39 is way too high for me
Gstank29
Only weird ranking in the top 30 is Connor at 20. I know he is good (i wanted us to pick him when we were in the 15-20 range) but he is definitely not better than Meier and Sanhiem Only player I haven't heard of is Donskoi, Joonas http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=122758 Looks like one of those Europe UFA's
Herberts Vasiljevs
Both Petan and Honka should be ranked waaaaay higher.
Derp...
You can also see a team by team breakdown and player ratings according to draft year on this Google Sheet. Vacouver is one of only 6 teams to have 5 or more players in the list. We're also the only one of those without a player higher than 30th.
-Stammer-
Cassels should be higher imo
Odd.
Garbage.
Ossi Vaananen
5 on that list, not bad. I don't see anything too egregious, no notable omissions either considering their 'prospect' requirements. I guess the goalie list is separate?
Jiggs50
Mitch Marner is so overrated imo.
DeNiro
The order is pretty arbitrary. Ehlers is always ranked too high because of his junior numbers. Much like Baertschi early on. Teemu Pulkinnen at 94? You know this guy is gonna come into the league and tear it up.
DeNiro
Vancouver - 5 Calgary - 4 Winnipeg - 7 Edmonton - 4 Toronto - 5 Detroit - 4 Not bad to have 5 in the top 100. The order doesn't mean a whole lot. I think Boeser should be a climber after his first season at North Dakota.
Outsiders
Dal Colle to high IMO
DeNiro
He's also 23 years old so i'm sure that played a part in the low ranking. 95% of these guys are under 20 Being younger doesn't make them a better prospect though. That's the fallacy with alot of these lists. The majority of the guys on this list will never put up over a point per game in the AHL, let alone become NHL regulars. Pulkinnen has shown a trend of putting up points in top leagues. The likelihood of him becoming an NHLer is much higher than alot of the players ahead of him on the list. DeNiro
I think the list is pretty good, Canuck fans are just sour because Virtanen is ranked so low. No one has even mentioned Virtanen in this thread until you did. I think most fans are happy to have 5 in the top 100.
Goat James
We've really accumulated quite a few good prospect over the last few years, imagine what this list would have looked like in 2011...
DeNiro
Yeah and im pretty sure they know that. Do you know there criteria when making there lists? They may have him low because of his age. A lot of good players on this list, nothing wrong with thinking 93 other players have more potential. Potential is nothing more than hype. The guys near the top are young so they haven't been able to underachieve or exceed expectations. A guy who has met or surpassed expectations should be ranked higher. If the criteria includes players who are 23, they should be ranked the same as ones who are 18. There's only a handful of them that will jump into the NHL right away, and the rest will have to go the same route as Pulkinen, which is the development route. Yeah but I know they are thinking it. I personally think being in the top 30 is a compliment to him considering these lists are often based on point totals, and Jake didn't exactly have the best season. The fact that he's being considered that high despite the lack of high point totals says alot.
Edlerberry
45 Point, Brayden TBL oh they know better than eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevery gm. marner over reinhart+1 ? WTF is that
canuckledraggin
I think the list is pretty good, Canuck fans are just sour because Virtanen is ranked so low. Just curious, which team are you a fan of? I won't argue with 30. That means of the 30 teams, we have a first rounder in 3 years worth of drafting. These rankings are pure fantasy until these players start to put up numbers in the NHL, and many of those players are bound to spend years toiling away in the Minor leagues waiting to get their shot at the show. Our drafts in '13 '14 '15 have been excellent and the fact that we're being named in the same breath as teams that have been perennial tank artists is encouraging.
