And gets arrested in front of his class.

When Ahmed Mohamed went to his high school in Irving, Texas, Monday, he was so excited. A teenager with dreams of becoming an engineer, he wanted to show his teacher the digital clock he'd made from a pencil case.

The 14-year-old's day ended not with praise, but punishment, after the school called police and he was arrested.

"I built a clock to impress my teacher but when I showed it to her, she thought it was a threat to her," Ahmed told reporters Wednesday. "It was really sad that she took the wrong impression of it."

Ahmed talked to the media gathered on his front yard and appeared to wear the same NASA T-shirt he had on in a picture taken as he was being arrested. In the image, he looks confused and upset as he's being led out of school in handcuffs.

"They arrested me and they told me that I committed the crime of a hoax bomb, a fake bomb," the freshman later explained to WFAA after authorities released him.

Mohamed builds a clock, arrested. Taylor builds a nuclear reactor, white house wants to help.

A Muslim teenager built a simple clock out of electronic components and took it to show his engineering teacher at school but he was arrested when another teacher thought it looked like a bomb and alerted administrators.

Police in Irving, Texas, never suspected the device was an explosive device and did not alert the bomb squad, but they still arrested 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed because he could offer no broader explanation for his clock besides describing it as a device that measures time.

When another 14-year-old boy built a nuclear reactor at his parents home he was invited to meet with officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Energy who offered their expert assistance, equipment and encouragement to apply for a research grant.

Taylor Wilson, who is white, entered his nuclear fusion reactor five years ago in a series of science fairs that eventually won him a trip to Switzerland, where he toured the Large Hadron Collider the worlds largest particle accelerator.

Wilson, now 21 years old, later won $50,000 at a science fair for an anti-terrorism device he invented that can detect nuclear materials in cargo containers.

He demonstrated that device to President Barack Obama at another science fair organized at the White House.

The president also invited Mohamed to visit him at the White House after the Muslim teens story sparked national outrage over an apparent double standard.

A black Florida teen was arrested and expelled in April 2013 after her science fair experiment, which involved mixing toilet bowl cleaner and aluminum foil in a plastic water bottle, created a chemical reaction that resulted in a firecracker-like pop and some smoke.

The reaction caused no injuries or damage, but the principal of Bartown High School feared the device had violated school policies.

Police charged Kiera Wilmot, then 16, with possession and discharge of a weapon on school grounds and with discharging a destructive device.

The honors student was eventually cleared of charges and went to the U.S. Space Academy after a NASA veteran heard about her story and paid for scholarships for Wilmot and her twin sister.

Can you imagine what the police would have done to Ahmed if he showed up to his school to show his teacher a nuclear reactor? They probably would have killed him.

See something, Say something. unless it's a muslim kid with a clock that looks like a bomb.

If the teacher really thought it was a "bomb" he/she would have fled the class, sounded the alarm etc. But the teacher end up calling the cops with Ahmed in the office and the supposed bomb in the school. Showing no urgency in the situation whatsoever is pretty pathetic. The policing in this case is even worse.

lol, Bristol Palin just said Obama shouldn't have invited him to the White House and it is encouraging racial strife. ^_^

Well, Obama called drug dealing gangsta wannabe sizzurp sucking Trayvon his son, so it would seem he's a pretty crappy judge of character.

Anyways:

A Muslim teen, fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed, bought a strange ticking device to his school, MacArthur High School. His device caused alarm and fear, and he was detained for having what his teacher perceived as a bomb. Police officers said the electronic components and wires inside his Vaultz pencil case (which is the size of a briefcase) looked like a “hoax bomb,” according to local news station WFAA.

When questioned about what the device was, Mohamed wouldn’t answer. Now terror-tied Islamic groups like the Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), their media lapdogs, and even Barack Obama are waging jihad against the school and the local police.

When police questioned the boy, WFAA reports, they said he was “passive aggressive” and didn’t give them a “reasonable answer” as to why he had brought his contraption to the school. “We attempted to question the juvenile about what it was and he would simply only say it was a clock. He didn’t offer any explanation as to what it was for, why he created this device, why he brought it to school,” said James McLellan of the Irving Police Department.

Such dumb racist questions by the police.. why did you bring it, what's it for..

Honestly, he could have brought a real bomb and the same people would defend him.

If one calls it Islamophobia, I find it funny, given just three days ago US Homeland Security thwarted an attack on the Pope:

Homeland Security Thwarts ‘ISIS Inspired’ Terrorist Attack on Pope Francis

New details are coming out regarding a terrorist attack planned against Pope Francis during his U.S. visit next week, after a lawmaker revealed on Sunday that an attempt had been derailed by Federal agents.

According to Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, agents “disrupted one particular case” and “are monitoring very closely threats against the Pope as he comes in to the United States.”

The Pope “is a very passionate man. He likes to get out with the people,” McCaul said on ABC’s This Week, underscoring details of the Pope’s personality that make defending him a challenge.

It has come out that the FBI arrested a 15-year-old boy outside of Philadelphia last month for reportedly threatening to launch an ISIS-inspired assault on Pope Francis during his upcoming U.S. trip.

“The minor was inspired by [iSIS] and sought to conduct a detailed homeland attack which included multiple attackers, firearms, and multiple explosives, targeting a foreign dignitary at a high-profile event,” according to a joint intelligence bulletin by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued on August 14 to law enforcement across the country.

The “foreign dignitary” referenced in that bulletin is Pope Francis, who will wind up his U.S. trip with two days of events in Philadelphia.

“The minor obtained explosives instructions and further disseminated these instructions through social media,” the intelligence bulletin said.

The young man has been charged with attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization and attempting to provide material support to terrorist activity, the bulletin added.

I think the school has a right to investigate if a student brings in something that *could* resemble an explosive.

They definitely overreacted, but of course the media is going to blow it out of proportion.

They do this on both sides, like the ridiculous 'praise' for Kim Davis, who should have been fired for refusing to do her job.

Here in Canada, we are more progressive. When a kid gets caught with an ACTUAL bomb, we give it back to him and let him go with a $100 fine.
