As per Friedman, but they'll still have cap to move to be able to fit him in:

@FriedgeHNIC: Hearing the much-rumoured extension between CHI and Brent Seabrook is closing in.

@FriedgeHNIC: Expecting AAV to be in range of 6.85M on Seabrook.

@FriedgeHNIC: Seabrook is eight years at approximately a $6.85M AAV. Good for him, he earned it.

Dang it...

We probably would have overpaid for Seabrook anyway because of the type player he is, he'd be a very similar replacement of Bieksa, it would have been in a way pointless to let Bieksa go and sign Seabrook for more money. He's also coming out of the prime range, I'd rather target cheaper and potential steal acquisitions like Mark Fayne.

Seabrook is a lot better than Bieksa.

He's not ALOT better than Bieksa. Seabrook has hit 40 plus points twice in his career so far, Bieksa has had 40 plus point seasons three times, they skate similar and have a similar stride and defensive awareness. Bieksa is also a better fighter, Seabrook has the Cups mainly because of P. Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, and Keith.
