elvis15
Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli 23m23 minutes ago#stlblues signed Martin Havlat to a one-year deal and released Dainius Zubrus from his PTO.Jeremy Rutherford @jprutherford 19m19 minutes agoHavlat's contract is a two-way: $600,000 in NHL, $200,000 in AHL. #stlbluesMartin Havlat will play a 15th NHL campaign. On Friday, the Blues announced that Havlat made good on his professional tryout, signing the veteran winger to a one-year, two-way deal worth $600,000 at the NHL level, per TVA.In another move, St. Louis released Dainius Zubrus from his PTO.Havlat, 34, will join a Blues team that’s been wrecked by injuries at forward. Patrik Berglund, Jaden Schwartz and Paul Stastny are all sidelined long-term, and the club got a further scare when Steve Ott sustained an upper-body injury against Chicago on Wednesday. To make room for Havlat, the Blues sent prospect Ty Rattie to AHL Chicago. It’ll be interesting to see how Havlat fits in the St. Louis lineup. The club’s had success with other veterans that came arrive through the PTO route, as Scottie Upshall and Scott Gomez both scored contracts out of training camp.Upshall has two goals in nine games this year while averaging 12:11 of ice time per night. Gomez has four points in eight games, and is averaging 11:09.Havlat will undoubtedly have some rust to shake off, having not played since March, when he was a member of the Devils.Speaking of the Devils, today’s move will reunite Havlat with Gomez, his teammate in New Jersey last year. http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2015/11/06/blues-sign-havlat-release-zubrus-from-pto/
Ghostsof1915
I guess Zubrus will be heading to Europe?
Kazmanian Devil
They signed the wrong one. Zubrus is the greatest Lithuanian of all time. This will surely haunt them.
HK Phooey
Wonder why the Blues wouldn't send Havlat down to their farm team for a conditioning stint rather than sending Ty Rattie down at this time. I would've had Havlat shake the rust off in the AHL than in an NHL game.
Where's Wellwood
I read the title as Horvat and nearly had a heart attack.

canucklehead44
When he signed with New Jersey last year I thought still might have something left in the tank as a cheap, veteran second liner/2nd pp unit option. Can't say it is a bad signing at 600K, but I still think someone like Ryder is a better bet for a dozen goals.

Mike Vanderhoek
I think he has potential to produce like Gomez has, due to injuries you'd have to think he will get more of an opportunity than 8 mins a game with no PP time.
Mackcanuck
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 45m45 minutes agoMarty Havlat has left STL for personal reasons. He's on unconditional waivers for purposes of mutually agreed termination of contract.
