Music in 2017

anyone given the new Fleet Foxes a listen? it's a big time grower for me. Didn't like it at first, but appreciating it more and more with each listen -- gotta be in the folk mood though.

Excited to listen to the new Mountain Goats album "Goths" too -- really enjoyed the singles.

also psyched that Liars are releasing a new album soon, and Phoenix have new stuff coming out too. 2017 has been more or less a dud for me so far.

Is there a quality leak available? I liked the first single but the latest one of just ok. And yeah every Fleet Foxes album has taken a few listens for me to appreciate it.

Yeah I've been disappointed a lot so far this year. Probably had too many expectations. Was hyped for Future islands, FJM, Gorillaz but those were more or less let down. I think there's good stuff on Pure Comedy but it's weighed down by boring and long ballads. Also those new Grizzly Bear singles weren't anything that special imo.

Have you heard the new Japanese Breakfast single? Totally different direction than Psychopomp but I really like it. Looking forward to that album.

I've been listening to Rocket for the past few days. Really good stuff.

Yeah I think Lorde's album comes out soon. Really looking forward to that.

Apparently the new LCD Soundsystem album is finished. I'm hyped.

Today - Beautiful Thugger Girls (Young Thug)

Tomorrow - Pretty Girls like Trap Music (2Chainz)

23rd - Big Fish Theory (Vince), Grateful (DJ Khaled)

30th - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 (Calvin Harris), listen to 'Slide' with Frank Ocean and Migos if you haven't yet. Probably my favorite song so far this year.

Been listening to the new Young Thug album...

It's really, really good. He takes a much more melodic approach to this album, while incorporating some Country-esque vibes to it. So far every track has been great, but I'd recommend listening to 'Do U Love Me' and 'Family Don't Matter'.

Edit - LISTEN TO ALL OF IT, NOW

I don't know if Fleet Foxes have been brought up in this thread, but I am stoned and listening to their new album and have some misguided thoughts...

To begin, I don't get them. I never have and, if I cannot get behind their brand new album while stoned out of mind, I likely never will. The music is boring. It's cool to see Morgan from Blood Brothers receiving some mainstream recognition, but it just doesn't sound good. The vocals do not match the music. Every song sounds like a bad My Morning Jacket b-side from 1999. Those are my thoughts.

You gotta let them grow on you but it's not for everyone. I think Crack Up is pretty darn good and that's just on the first listen.

Melodrama is everything I hoped it'd be. Easily one of my favourite albums from this year along with Crack Up.

love the new Fleet Foxes. took me a few listens to really 'get' (as I said in a previous post), but now I love it.

LCD Soundsystem's album is confirmed for Sept 1 -- called 'American Dream.' Both the previous singles I mentioned will be on it, so that's exciting.
