Hortankin
So sad to see him go to the AHL. He is such a classy guy and him reporting to Utica just shows how classy he is. He understands the team is headed in a different direction and he is not in our plans. Benning did everything he could to get him to an NHL club but there was no takers, but atleast he is close to home and still making 2.5M. Hopefully a team becomes interested around TD. A contender who could use some PK help could really use him and it seems the price will be a 5th-7th pick, not bad for a player that bring what Higgins brings. He may just push Utica over the top and help them win the calder. He would be a hometown hero there and that could be something special for him. Wishing you all the best Higgins!! Frazzy Desjardins
He's gonna be a great mentor for the ones that are really close like Shink and Gaunce.
oldnews
Agree with theminister. Higgins should have a chance to heal - hopefully takes a bit of down time - and then gets his game back. Great, quality depth player to have available for the run.

canuckledraggin
It just goes to show that the salary cap ceiling is going to continue to force teams to weed out this journeyman type of player. 2.5 million shouldn't be enough to keep a player of this caliber out of the NHL. Good for us that he has been struggling this season, because the Comets really need help right now. They've lost 7 in a row and could use that player/ on ice coaching and experience. The Comets need to pick up their game and get back to their winning ways. The Conference standings are tight from 4th to 12th and they need to pick it up in the back half of the season to make a push for the playoffs. An added bonus for the Canucks is they have Higgins as an ace up their sleeve if he is able to find his game.

We're getting healthier which means they should start getting some of their better guys back. Add in Higgins and perhaps some pending waiver eligible etc AHL level trades towards the deadline and they should be able to pick things up. VegasCanuck
Why is this thread here? How is it that Higgins (32 years old last I heard) has a thread in prospects?

That's huge for the Comets though, they add Higgins, Vey and a RW and presto they have another line that can score.
Gaudette Celly
He's part of a new trend -- the reverse-prospect. Looking forward to seeing how he does in Utica. Maybe he'll work his way down to the K-Wings before the end of the season. He needs icetime to keep those abs sharp and defined.

If expansion happens there should be some serious money ball players that could be had for cheap to fill any holes after stealing players from active rosters.
