Gretzky Returning to Oilers !!

Amazing what a once in a generation talent like McDavid will do for an organization. Lucic signs, Gretzky comes aboard, new arena, etc. etc.

Pens were lucky to get Sid, ends up in 2 cups (maybe more), Oilers tank for McDavid and suddenly a hole nobody wants to go to turns into a preferred destination.

As much hate as Gretzky gets, he was the greatest player in history, and Canadian to boot.

Also never forget that moment that Crawford refused to allow the Great One to get into the shootout in Nagano. Epic fail and prime reason Crow should never coach in the bigs again.

The arena was planned and under construction long before McDavid came along. Connor was still discovering body hair in new places when the arena framework was approved by the city council.

Gretzky was notoriously bad at breakaways, at one point in his career he missed 19 in a row. The Canadians lost the shootout because every single shooter went low on Hasek, not one tried to roof it. Hasek was a master of taking away the bottom of the net. Lindros had him on his back & he tried to slide it in. Roof that shot under the crossbar & it's in.

Gordie Howe was the greatest player ever in NHL lore.

His longevity was simply appalling, but based off of raw skill, Gretzky has that but the Great One is not far ahead of Orr.

It's interesting I also heard that Messier is being brought on board as McDavid's personal valet.  There is also a referendum being considered to rename the city of Edmonton

McEdmonton is the preferred choice by city officials.  But the scuttlebut is Connorville is leading the voting.  I would opt for McCondometon.

Mario Lemieux is the greatest. If Hodgkins didn't do a number on him, he would have eclipsed Gretzky's records. That and he didn't need Dave Semenko to protect him, what with being 6'4" 230 lbs.

He might not have needed Semenko, but Mario's career and back would have lasted longer if he did have him on the team.
