Minnesota will make cap, albeit by barely $50K and with a 12 F / 6D roster. Which is projected to include top prospect Vasili Podkolzin?

That said, someone will be injured?  Always seems to be. Regardless we are open to moving dollars & roster players;

Minnesota team sheet

We also have the following players, in reverse order of ''readiness,'' as opposed to upside. Who we expect to range from almost regular NHL'ers this year. To getting their feet wet. We may need to make room for some or several;

Martin Fehervary, Drew O'Connor, Kale Clague, Yegor Chinakhov, Dylan Samberg, Alex Limoges, Tyler Angle & Mavrik Bourque, maybe Jeremy Roy.

Unless some of our new NCAA acquisitions impress at camp, this is our opening-night lineup. Busy offseason with 6 new faces in the lineup. Ten players are UFA at the end of this year.

Carolina Hurricanes Pre-Training Camp Report

Looking forward very much to the new season. Last year we were coming in fresh off a Cup win, and the COVID cap crunch led to some depth problems. We were unable to ice a full roster to start the season, and we didn't even get any back-up goalie points until March! And although there were a number of players who went deep into the playoffs and produced, we didn't have the depth to get through the first round. We tried to add at the deadline, but just didn't have the cap space to do anything impactful.

But this year will be different. We have Jake Allen ready to go as our backup, who will no doubt be getting a starter's workload until Price is back. And we were able to acquire much more depth throughout the lineup. We expect to have a much better regular season, which will hopefully give us a better 1st round match-up. And there is still a few million of cap space to work with, either now, or at the deadline. All-in-all, we're ready to roll.

A. Ovechkin - K. Hayes - R. Smith

A. Lee - N. Kadri - A. Burakovsky

W. Carrier - R. Colton - J. Archibald

N. Deslauriers - K. Rooney - B. Ritchie

V. Hedman - M. Sergachev

B. Chiarot - N. Schmidt

N. Holden - D. Forbort

B. Smith

A. Vasilevskiy

J. Allen

We have 2 roster spots up for grabs, with a bunch of guys ready to fight for them, including: Sam Carrick, Tyce Thompson, Radim Zohorna, Kirill Semyonov, Simon Ryfors, Brett Murray, Maxim Letunov, Jesper Sellgren, Ryan Shea, and Eetu Makiniemi. Competition in camp should be fierce, and we expect to have some solid options for call-up when injuries arise.

It's going to be a great year! Let's get the trash talk started!

projected 2021/22 lineup:

Bjorkstrand - Barkov - DeBrincat

Vrana - Backstrom - Brown

Gusev - Foligno - Thompson

Lazar -Turris - Gagner

Leivo / Vesey / Eklund / Chmelevski / Somppi

Toews - Severson

Goligoski - Walker

Edmundson - Fabbro

Mitchell / Kukan / Clarke /Benn / Walsh / Borgen / Durzi

Blackwood

Smith

Vejmelka/Shepard/Soderblom

We fully expect to challenge for the division in the regular season. May be an easy out for a road team come playoffs, but we think we can find a way to be a contender by '22/'23.

Any of the depth players, are available to teams needing to fill out their rosters. Will take B prospects and the like.

Goligoski, Edmundson, Smith will be on the market throughout the season. Starting ask is a 1st for Goligoski, a 2nd for Edmundson, and a 1st for Smith.

Players bolded are on the market. More may become available later in the season. Open to offers, ideally picks. We want all highlighted gone by next season. If you like someone and they are still on our books come January 2022 let us know. Prices will likely drop as we look to add volume of picks. For now though top end guys will require high picks. I don't suspect Palmieri or Atkinson will reach the stage of a price drop but we shall see! Palmieri already has retention on him so his cap hit is 5.32m.

Adirondack Thunder Sign Multi-Year Affiliation Agreement with New Jersey Devils

NJ Devils Announce AHL Affiliation Partnership with the Utica Comets

The New Jersey Devils are proud to announce our new partner with the Utica Comets and Adirondack Thunder. The Devils signed a 10 year agreement with the Utica franchise which became available after breaking ties off with the Vancouver Canucks. The team is expected to field some promising young talent this season including the likes of Philip Broberg, Alex Newhook, Ridly Greig, Ozzy Wiesblatt, and Ryan Suzuki to name just a few. The Devils organization announced a 5 year plan when GM Rush17 took over the franchise at the tail end of the 2019-20 season. The team is now entering its second year of that five year plan. The team has managed to add 12 first round draft selections from the last 3 Drafts.

The team plans on staying the course and adding young talent both via free agent signings, trade, and via scouting. The Devils added a lot of one year contracts this off-season leaving room for youth to make the team to start the 2022-23 season. NJ GM  Rush17 said the plan for next season is to let the kids play. This season we went out of our way to add some veteran players to support and help the growth of our young players including the two stars in Jack Hughes and Quinton Byfield. Mikhail Maltsev, Artem Zub, and Nikolai Knyzhov are also younger members on the squad this season. They will certainly benefit from the veteran presence added. GM Rush17 said the team will explore trading some of its better veteran forwards for future considerations to help acquire more young talent as the season progresses.

To further support the growth of the Devils prospects the Devils owner Josh Harris of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment has invested $500,000 into additional renovations for the Comets rink in the AHL. The resources have been used to upgrade workout spaces, food preparation areas, and a newly renovated player lounge which includes 15 sleeping pods so players take rest between practice and game times without the need for commute back to their homes.

The Devils franchise is set to begin its 47th season in the National Hockey League. the team is expected to be in its final year of the five year plan in the team's 50th anniversary season. We look look forward to another productive 2021-22 campaign and hope to see all of our fans back in the rinks as we dawn a new era in Jersey!

Quote Jack Hughes:

"I am excited to be here, I am looking forward to a strong year. I think i can take a step and become a leader on this team."

Quote Quinton Byfield:

"I am excited to be here. I want to prove I belong in the NHL at the young age of 19. I need to prove it and I'm excited to get started".

Media Summary:

Jack Hughes is expected to have a breakout season.  Quinton is expected to make a push for a roster spot. The team has set aside the 2nd line C slot for Byfield but it will largely be up to him if he deserves it. The coach is thrilled about the additions of both Jack and Quinton - Coach is looking forward to seeing how Jack handles the pressure of being the guy here in Jersey. He is also really excited to see how Quinton handles the speed and rigors of the NHL.

Quote from Coach:

"Coach had this to say about the two young stars. "They obviously are both very young. Jack has a bit more NHL polish on his game and Quinton is incredibly raw. We will do our best to work with them and put them in situations to succeed. We are thrilled with the other young additions we made with the likes of Maltsev, Zub, and Knyzhov three guys I was incredibly high on. It is nice having a General Manager that can help you acquire the types of pieces you feel your team needs. "

The Devils are expected to kick off their pre-season campaign Wed Sept 29th, 2021 vs the Washington Capitals at 4:00pm EST. Come check us out and grab some tickets @ NJDevilDOTcom.

Late on this but oh well. Lots of hopefuls this year. Really happy with the depth that we have going in to this season. May have some tough roster decisions as we get closer to the regular season.

Ridly Greig # 17 in White having a strong pre-season game.Goood job kid. Just watch the face next time .

On a positive note he is looking very close to NHL ready - pretty impressive performance by our 38th Selection of the 2020 Entry Draft.
