189lb enforcers?
Most expensive rebuild in NHL history? Regardless, if you choose to believe that JB intended to buy lottery tickets with Aquaman’s lunch money, as in build a core out of top picks, while spending to the cap, then you might want to ask yourselves if anything he did was intentional, regarding the rebuild. It’s how he managed (executed) this team to those finishes, which should be included in assessing his tenure and those consequential/unintended results, and their silver linings that afforded this core, not that he picked it in the top 7, say. He’s not really being judged on his “intended” results, but rather their silver linings, such as EP. Even today, he might have mismanaged the roster, yet still have fate bail him out with COVID and IR interventions, which should stave off judgment on his actual results, instead of the unintended, silver linings. Is he lucky? I like lucky. Edited April 10, 2021 by 189lb enforcers?

For starters Pearson is 3.25 not 3.75. Loui will be sent down saving another 1.25. Looks like Beagle will be on LTIR saving another 3. That cuts it down to under 25% for 2 top six forwards, a top four defence man and a third liner. That means the only real bad contract there is Loui. Roussel is also over paid a bit.
BertaNuck
The fact is over paid for Pearson and virtanen and all of the bottom six (except motte) and recently states he does not plan to be busy at the trade deadline is concerning! he plans to ice the same bottom six next year? Doesn’t plan to try and make space with big contracts due this year.... yikes! I don’t think I can stomach this bottom six again next year

I mean he’s one of 31 NHL General Managers. I think he’d really get bored at Burger King. Probably best to leave that position to Nonuts or Captain Circumventor, for which follies we’re still paying for. 189lb enforcers?
Lol Sure, possibly JB has his hidden reasons which may soon come out for this classic JB puckup moment, but meanwhile, the herd is slowly arriving to begrudgingly agree with what was once an unpopular opinion on here; JB is not a good GM for the Canucks. Aquaman, cut your losses; we’ll respect you more if you do.

You can only defend mediocrity for so long, Benning has already missed playoffs more than any other GM in Canucks History. Sooner or later the potential of this team and the 'intangibles' we overpay for has to translate to actual wins. He has 2 years tops, in line with Bo and Miller's UFA extensions and his own deadline. Of course, also depends if any other GM wants to work for Aquilini. Edited May 11, 2021 by DSVII

Isn’t there another year or two of the $3M Luongo recapture as well? Granted, that’s not JB’s fault but it’s a lot of money to not be able to spend in the flat cap environment.
