Twitter Suspends Reporters From WashPost, NYT, Others Who Wrote About Elon Musk

One reporter said he had "no idea" why he was booted from the platform.

Twitter suddenly suspended a host of the nation’s preeminent tech journalists on Thursday, many of whom have reported about billionaire Elon Musk’s chaotic leadership at the social media giant in recent weeks.

The accounts for The New York Times’ Ryan Mac, The Washington Post’s Drew Harwell, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, Mashable’s Matt Binder and independent journalist Aaron Rupar all disappeared Thursday evening, as did several others. All of those reporters have reported deeply about Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter, the fallout after he laid off half of its employees and the company’s decision to ban, then un-ban, then re-ban an account that tracked Musk’s private plane flights.

Aaron Rupar told NBC’s Ben Collins he had “no idea” why the suspension happened.

A message on the accounts simply says they have been suspended for violating Twitter’s rules.

Twitter has already been drastically reshaped since Musk formally took ownership of the company in October. He has disbanded teams that address hate speech and civil rights abuses and demanded that the company update policies on the fly to target accounts and critics that irk him.

The New York Times reported this week that Musk and his advisers have been looking at stiffing former employees of severance pay in an effort to cut costs. Twitter also hasn’t paid rent for its San Francisco headquarters, or for many of its other global offices, in weeks, hoping to renegotiate lease terms.

TEsla is losing money hand over fist.  Twitter appears to be dying too.  Soon Musk will be bankrupt.

Pretty sure Tesla shareholders are mighty pissed. Tonight's news isn't likely to calm them down.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me if eventually Tesla's Board of Directors removed Musk as CEO. Of course he can always count on board member Kimbal Musk's support.

Musk is reminding me more and more every day of Trump. Thin skin, bans those who are critical, wants to piss off the libs constantly, spreads conspiracy theories, is only for free speech if it supports him and convinces a bunch of gullible idiots to defend him from any slight criticism.

Do as I say, not as I do: the new kingmaker of Twitter.

I agree with Laurence:

Ooops....didn't realize Pete had already posted this....

Anyway, Elon is a hypocrite. If any of you are still supporting this attention whore, I just don't know what to say.....

He says posting a mans face name and license plate/vehicle make/model on the very same platform with no hint of irony.  Without even blinking also forcibly reinstating thousands of accounts banned for multiple violations of that very self same terms of service

SOunds like some people are being terribly unsafe with what they’re doing.  They should be more careful and responsible, especially if they are accredited reporters.  Maybe they are blinded by politics?  Sadly so many people these days are.  They choose their side and then aren’t able to listen to others’ views.  Very sad really.

He didn't post that man's face or vehicle in exact real time location, which it seems is the point and the actual terms of service violation...

Those words could easily be used to described the Nazi sack of **** who is banning these reporters with no reason given.  Hopefully the US is able to tag Musk for tax evasion or securities fraud and see what pronouns he uses after his cellmate gives him what he deserves.

So how many hours or days does one have to wait for it to not violate this "new" TOS that results in insta bans?   One would love to know there Elon.

Might also say, that he says it is about the safety of his kids welfare etc.  But knowingly neglects the transgender daughter he has who has effectively cut tiies with him or the iligitimate ones he had with shivon zilis or the other one now come to light

But hey ya, it's about freedom of speech and the kids and not doxing people or posting their personal information right elon?

Don’t know much about Musk other than he’s rich but it looks like his companies are going bankrupt.  Tesla cars are crap, so no surprise that company is struggling to survive.  And the Twitter thing is dying.  Seems like he’s just trying to stir up trouble and get people to be polarized.  The sooner he’s gone the better.

I don't think many truckers are going to like the Tesla semi.  This is a critique of the cab.  Not the specs of the rig.  Just the part that the trucker actually needs to be functional.

After reading this, the Tesla semi seems like trash.

Tesla Semi’s cab design makes it a ‘completely stupid vehicle,’ trucker says
