Well what the flames got and other trades mean we should get a decent return for Miller if he is traded.A rhd ,1st and something else, we might have to add a pick or player but whatever happens hope we find out soon.

You don't get it. Miller is Huberdeau in this trade

wow what a monster return..  Schwindt is good, a 1st, Weegar AND Huberdeau... Trades no longer make sense with everyone at the cap limit. All the more crappy if we can't unload a 5.2mil Miller.

we had the chance but allvin didn't have the b@lls to do it on draft day and unfortunately missed his shot.

I have a feeling we'll see one in the not so distant future though. Won't be as big news as this one though.

One could argue its a big overpayment from the panthers but when you factor in that both Huberdeau and Weegar are set to be free agents in one more year and are going to be 30 and 29 then its clear why Florida made the deal. They don't want to have to commit massive contracts to two players that will likely become anchors eventually and they pick up a player already capable of putting up 100 points who isn't even in their prime yet. Plus they will save enough cap to be able to sign another defenseman in next year's free agency to replace Weegar.

Would you package Miller with Weegar, a top prospect and a 1st to land a d-bag like Tkachuk for the next 8 years?

He had Calgary on his 8 team no-trade list or were they simply 1 of the 23 other teams he could be traded to?

I thought he had until July 28th to decide on his list. Not 100% sure.

Or player has certain amount of time to submit list when asked.

Tkachuk's definitely got the skills and production. The only question is if he is a winner, a core you can build around. Florida's about to answer that. If Tkachuk wins a Stanley Cup with Florida, then that Juolevi pick is going to be talked about for a while.

The type of game he plays is very hard to find in a player.  Top tier power forward.  Only 24. That's why his return was so high.

Never know if any player will win a cup.  Depends on the team . But he'll play a huge part if he wins a cup.

If its all about taxes, then he certainly had Calgary on his NT list.

Talking about that pick is flogging a dead horse

Exactly... we have been such a soft team for a decade.. Everyone was thinking ok go up and pick Tkachuk. And he shocks everyone with Juolevi. Would have loved a tough pesky powerforward in Tkachuk on our team. If he doesnt work out, trade him for this haul lol.

Trade clauses enter into effect at the turn of the new season but teams didn't always have those lists on record.  They didn't have to be filed in the past but that Dadonov failed trade highlighted a flaw in the process.  Would guess that central registry made sure that all trade lists were filed this season.

He had an NMC last season but an 8-team no-trade this season.

Bad trade for Florida? I don't think so. I think in the long run Florida won this by a mile.

They are getting younger and tougher with MT, they are moving older players with expiring contracts. And the new contract for MT isn't that much if you consider the inflation we actually have.

The funny thing is Florida is still over the cap over all this. They'll have to lose more assets to dump cap? Florida has thrown away so many assets... Along with the Giroux rental from last year.

Their buyout window has also closed and a Hornqvist trade would probably be far too costly.

Duclair hurt his Achilles in off-season training and will be out for a while.  He had surgery and they are talking of mid-season before he can return.  He has a 3M cap hit.  They can put him on LTIR and demote a player to run with a roster of 20 and they'll be cap compliant to start the season.   A bit tight but it's an option.  They'll have to clear cap space when he's ready to return though.

Calgary has roughly 30m+ of cap space next season, once Lucic’s and Monahan’s contracts come off the books. I could see them offering 10m to Huberdeau and 6m to Weegar, which would probably get it done.

I don’t understand why people think they won’t re-sign.

Gaudreau.
