Myers getting bumped from the top 4 by Bear showed management all they need to know. If we can dump him with no retention it’s a great move.

 

For the last time! No team is paying anything for Myers. Not even a 5th round pick. If you want to move Myers Canucks are the ones that have to ADD a pick.. and it's probably a 1st. 

His play along with another year of his cap hit is negative value.

There were two options to get Podz going... put him on Pettersson's line or send him to Abby.

 

Kuzmenko and Mikheyev are playing well with Petey, that line is the primary offensive driver for the team, so obviously BB doesn't want to break that chemistry up.

 

Playing on the fourth line is not really the solution for Podz, he is a potential top sixer who needs first line minutes and offensive situations.

 

So sending him to Abby makes sense.

I am not so sure if Buffalo would want Myers.  They have different philosophy on what a defender would look like and might have seen him play and might take a pass.

this is just a sad reality.

 

when management acquired/re-signed Schenn, Rathbone, Burroughs, Dermott, Bear, Stillman... they all meant to be the 5th~7th guy.

 

Now looks like they're reducing minutes of OEL and Myers and make them look bottom-pair-ish.

 

on the other hand, Schenn is used as top4 (in normal situation, an NHL top4 veteran should not be under 1M).

 

The team don't need another 5th~7th guy.

not sure if they want to pay 6M for a 30+ yr old to be the 6th man.

They have the second worst goals against in the conference. That strong defense is not getting it done.
 

They could use a veteran D man, especially a right shot one. not many of those available right now.

Even if Studnicka or Pearson are close, I hope BB doesn't change this lineup because it's been dynamite, even with Dries as 3C and Hoglander on our "top line". We've just won 5 out of 6 games and toppled 3 of the best teams in the league - on the road to boot, the worst thing we can do is change our lineup now and put in guys who have been off for weeks. Ride the hot hand, don't put Pearson in on Bo's line.

 

Good for Podz and Rathbone, we've let them down with their development to be fair, haven't put them in positions to succeed, so hope they get top minutes in the AHL. It's a real shame, they were both supposed to break out this season.

 

I wonder if it's a combination of us not grooming them properly but also, they jumped into a terrible team. Now we're playing a bit better, they'd probably have a bit more success on the ice (for example, Podz playing with Bo and Miller who are much stronger now than earlier in the season) but it's a balance between getting the kids playing and not messing up a solid lineup.

Not at 6m he isn't an upgrade. Do you not realize that players have contracts and teams need to fit these contracts under a thing called a cap?

If we retain 50% then sure we could maybe move him for an asset like a late pick... But you're very mistaken if you still think any team in this league will give up anything for Myers straight up.
