Cam Neely and a first for Barry Pederson was the worst trade.

That first was the 3rd overall. Ended up being Glen Wesley, an excelled defenceman.

No it won't. And who knows exactly which player management would have chosen if they retained the pick. It's much ado about nothing.

At least the players coming back for Neely didn’t hurt the team long term.   Benning didn’t just was trade away a high draft pick but he actively screwed ownership and the fans by trading for a bad contract. OEL is locked in for many years.  All because Benning couldn’t wait one more year to get out of Erricksson’s contract.  So he trades a bad contract with 1 year left for a bad contract with several years left.   Garland and Guenther were a one for one.   So it’s worse than just trading away a pick for help, he traded away the pick and the players we got back made the team worse.  No help.

It's like beating a dead horse. Was it right? Not entirely, perhaps, not even close. But when does the beating stop?

Apparently someone has never heard of Cam Neely....

Actually the guys in Sportsnet consider the recent trade as the worst ever. Neely trade hurt because of the return and how Neely turned out. But this trade is future breaking

37 years after the event the trade tree is still alive.

8 points and 7 games and a +5 in the tourney 19 year old who's played NHL minutes......not gonna be benched Heffy no matter what you're scouting report says lol.

The issue isn't his offence, it's his inability to play any defence whatsoever.   He was absolute trash and there's no reason to pretend the way be played in his own zone was acceptable under any circumstances.  He needs to go back to playing forward if he keeps refusing to stop being a liability.

Glad he's gone to a division rival and we'll get to play against this pylon if the Kings are stupid enough to let him play in the NHL.

Crazy good game, bit disappointed Bedard doesn't factor into the scoring but he scored plenty of clutch goals during the tournament. Big players come up big in the finals and say what you want about Wright, he'll always be a polarising player but that was a heck of a game and goal by him. Roy was great but Guenther pretty much single handedly wins them the game. Hurts as a Canuck fan but we probably wouldn't have picked him anyway and wasted the pick...

I thought Clarke was all over the place, some nice offensive plays but he's a real Myers out there in his own zone, has to polish that up if he's ever going to be considered elite.

The right move. His game still needs some work.

Still think we take a shot at acquiring this kid.

LA needs a starting goalie badly as Petersen is a total bust and Quick is a shadow of his former self.  Clarke will not surpass any RHD on LA's roster anytime soon as they have a wealth of prospects at this position (no surprise from RHD GM Rob Blake)

To LA:  Demko, Rathbone, 2nd

To Vancouver:  Clarke, Turcotte, Petersen (50% retained)

Teams don't overpay for Goalies anymore. Even Kevin Woodley says it's not worth it.
