Wrong.

Here's why a coaching change now will lead to a bump in the most simplistic terms.  Even a "bad coach"

We are halfway done the season.  Teams have endless tape on the structure and plays of teams, from forward to defense to special teams on offense and the PK.  They have hundreds of hours of footage that their coaching staff and players have watched over and over again to familiarize themselves with the opposing team prior to game day.

Then, a new coach with a polar opposite mindset and vastly different systems steps in.  All of a sudden that tape is worthless.  They have studied french when the test is in german.  This gives the team with a coaching change and a talented forward group like ours a weapon that other teams can't counter because they haven't seen it.

Tocchet could come in and be awful, like Keenan awful; but it doesn't matter because wins will happen.  Our players will wear down fast and start hating life within 30 games or less, but wins will come.  A new coach will bump this team up in the wins columns just because nobody knows what to expect from them.

Essentially; even if Tocchet comes in and is the worst gd coach in canucks history, statistically he will still squeeze a solid winning record out of this team in his first 15 games which puts us out of contention for a solid lottery spot.

Or in laymans terms, all 17.3 managers and their old boys club + aqua mans need for relevancy in the league will cost us a chance at a franchise defining centre; or possibly the greatest player since Mcdavid/Crosby who HAPPENS to be from Vancouver and happens to want nothing more than to play at home, possibly so much he'd take smaller contracts to do it.

We will hire Tocchet and Canuck Luck ourselves in to mediocrity.

And then again, another stupid move by a stupid organization.

Tocchet is enough of a cancer in the room ti nullify any risk of a coaching bump.

Why is he a locker room cancer?

Extreme character issues including a criminal record and possible mob ties.  Why would anyone welcome this worthless piece of trash into the organization?

Sounds like he'll fit in perfectly with Aqua-Lini !

I’m fine with Tocchett and Gonchar to an extent but I have no clue how Matvichuk fits the equation.

Unless they’re planning to retain Yeo or make another hire. There’s no way he has the experience to run the D or the Pk. Maybe a King replacement ?

Same. Have no clue about MATVICHUK. I just don't see how Tocchet will be better than Bruce. I mean, I get it from a change up perspective but don't see how Tocchet and crew would be an improvement given his record as a head coach.

Bringing him in as an assistant with Bruce, sure, that makes sense because that's where he's had the most success. And that would push Yeo either out or him as an assistant to both Tocchet and Bruce. That makes sense to me. Three experienced guys with Bruce in the lead.

Still hoping for a surprise announcement that nobody has picked up on.

JR has kept things quiet in the past like with the Miller signing.

Well, he's gotta work his experienced magic now that a year has passed. I'm hoping for the same as you.

My dream would be that he already talked to Trotz on the DL and has an agreement in place.

Tocchett is actually coming in as his assistant until Trotz moves up to management. Gives Tocchett some more on the job training under one of the best.

Not gonna happen but that would be my dream. ::D

I'm onboard with that. I said before it would only make sense if Trotz was available and he gave us a deadline of asap.

Would make sense in replacing Bruce with quality experience. Replacing him with Tocchet is just all kinds of meh ... and Tony Soprano. ;)
