Seider is 4 years younger, puts up points and plays nasty.

You’re off your meds if you think Hronek is better than Seider.

Hronek is way better. And no. M drinking heavily. So n meds needed.
amd don’t be so gullible ad to believe the hype, Seider isn’t nearly as good as Hronek. He might develop into a very good layer. But right now zHronek is a lot better. Just look at how Detroit is doing without Hronek and relying on Seider to okay the minutes Hronek played. They stink without Hronek.

We have 2 games in hand

We are playing great. We will make the playoffs, easily, next season.  IMHAO we are winning the Cup in 2024. Demko is that good.

We’re not that young and you always need a pipeline of great young centers. Raty is FAR from a guarantee.

We dominated another team that pushed and won when it mattered and now they’re locked into a playoff spot. This team still needs to prove it can win under pressure. Right now they’re playing free and loose with nothing on the line.

Yes, I would love to have the 5th or 6th pick in the draft, but

9. Reinbacher (RHD)

10. Pellikka (RHD)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

11. Wood (RW)

12. Cristall (LW)

13. Moore (C)

14. Gulyayev (LHD)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

15. Leonard (RW)

16. Danielson (C)

17. Dragicevic (RHD)

18. Heidt  (C)

I don't necessarily want wingers, but I would be happy, with any of the others, and would probably be happy with Cristall as well.

Is it ideal? No, but I am not going to beat myself up about it.

Don't really have a problem with the wins as long as they are still mathematically in the playoffs - if / once they are out and they continue to double shift Huggy or Petey, then it becomes silly and counterproductive as they need to start looking at other developing prospects at that time.

With the way Flames, Jets and Preds have been struggling, stranger things have happened.  I think the Blues probably have the same thought process right now.

Best case scenario - they make the post season or finish 11th + below and still get the local kid.  :)

What you don't seem to get is the players won't tank.

Neither will the coaches.  Now, managers might.

What happened with the Canucks was that as the new coach was trying to have the team play to a system, there was an adjustment period as they were learning the system and for 10 games or so, they were losing.  This brought the tankers out and I must admit, that I was somewhat seduced with the prospect of getting a top 5 pick.  However, the team started buying into the system and at the same time, they were hitting a soft part of their schedule.  And now they are winning.

They're going to end up picking in the 8-10 range and will still get a good player.  The thing is, the core of the team is 23-27 and players drafted in the upcoming draft are 17-18 and the core will be in decline when players from this draft will be getting into their prime.  So why get bent out of shape over not getting really high draft picks during this draft?  They're not going to help the core.  They will be a part of the next wave.

Yes some will.6 to 10 players will make the NHL meaning right away help.

He was 80% of his peak last year and then sucked this year.

His mobility was affected by his summer injury, he never looked 100% until 2 months into the season.

There has been way too much hyperbole over how bad OEL has been this year.

I would not be shocked to see OEL-Hronek make an excellent pairing next year.

It wasn't just his skating had been a problem, even though that was a big part of it.

OEL's overall play fell off a cliff to an AHL replacement player level this season and that includes his defensive awareness, decision making and general hockey IQ. From what I have seen all season, OEL's regression was more on the mental side than physical. His game was never built on speed, physicality or booming slap shot. OEL used to be known as a heady player with good offensive instincts/skills. Defensive prowess hasn't been one of his calling cards throughout his career, but it's never been this bad either.

I'm also hoping to see resurrected OEL next season and be able to play in the bottom pairing at least, since that would be the best case scenario for us rather than buying him out or trading him. It's still a long shot though...

We won! We dominated a very good club in their rink. Have ing a Healthy Demko, and Hughes and now Hronek makes us super friggin’ good. We are fabulous!

we gave up 13 shots in that last two periods. That’s a very good team,

The sure bet is to buy him out.

I hope you people are happy when our 11th overall pick gets 15 goals on the 3rd line in Abbotsford in 5 years. What a stupid team

https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-draft-history-11th-overall/

Iginla, Carter and Kopitar stand out, but the rest...

The overall draft talent has been increasing over the years though, and the team that picks 11th will have plenty of viable options this year.

Winning at season's end has happened the last couple years.

I really think this year is different.

We need a couple more proven D men and one more good center.

The way our cap is might be to hard to get that all done in the off season.

Two years from now think it will and we can all be happy playoff time.

I think next year will be close to a playoff spot but at this point not sure till the off season.

It's really dependant on how much salary we can move in the offseason and how our younger guys can develop. If we can have one or two of Podkolzon, Kratsov, Hoglander, Joshua take some offensive strides, while a couple guys like Karlsson or Bains can make the jump to the NHL it could go a long ways toward filling the roster and saving us some money.

There are a few centers available like Eller and Blueger that should be available in the offseason that I think could be had for relatively cheap and short term while Raty hopefully develops into our permanent 3C.

Gavrikov would be a really nice addition to our blueline. I was hoping we'd be able to sign Livingstone as well, but that doesn't appear as though it's going to happen. Malinski is still on the table though, and we could always resign Schenn.

I'm looking forward to next season. Tocchet seems to have the team playing the right way, and although Demko is doing is great, it doesn't seem like we're constantly being bailed out by him, which leads me to believe this is more sustainable than what we were doing under Bruce last year.

See this is what I disagree with. I understand why people say this, but I think it's false.

Wolanin came in and had been playing great in sheltered minutes. Then the last game before he got injured, he wasn't sheltered and his numbers cratered.

I don't think it's fair at all to call OEL's play AHL replacement level. He was still playing against the MacKinnons, McDavids, and Matthews of the league night in night out.

Basically OEL has been taking the minutes that would make a lot of defensemen look bad. This is not to absolve him if his bad play this year, but to me his play was that of a bad 2nd pairing defenseman.

I'm so happy that we're 23rd!

We're 8-2 the last 10 games with 10 games left - if we go 8-2 those ones, we may get to 21st or even 20th in the league!

That would be so great!

Next year, maybe we might even squeak into the playoffs!

I have feeling Reinbacher will be gone before we pick if we're in the 9 to 13 spot. Pellikka would be great but Wood or Moore would be hard to pass on too if they are available.
