cripplereh
A good upgrade to our D which has been needed for a long time.

You mean they couldn’t have given him an extra .500k and an extra year for a legitimate top 4 defensemen? Not to mention JR and Allvin has history with Dumoulin in Pittsburgh. Soucy is a borderline top 4 defensemen. Both the Wild and Kraken knew he was expendable.

Not always just about throwing the most money at a player. Maybe he has family in the states and wants to stay there who knows. Maybe he’s interested in joining a winning team? Thinking we missed out on signings when we have no idea if a player even wanted to come here is pointless. I’m sure they called him and gauged interest and moved on. Took you that long to have one strong signing for us finally!!!! Hope to see more signing or trades to strengthen our team!!! First strong Ufa signing? Kuzmenko? Aman? Mikheyev? Maybe even Johansen, Hirose, McWard, and Joshua if they develop
cripplereh
Well no more cap for big names. Maybe Alvin has something up his sleeve to grab another over seas player.

Cole is a better penalty killer and played top 4 minutes on a top tier Tampa team. Soucy is bigger, younger and more physical and will be on the 3rd pairing. We got this right. Only thing now is to get a partner for Hughes. There are still moves to be made. Myers and Garland may both be moved.

Dumoulin fell off quite a bit the last yr. Rather have soucy. Edited July 2, 2023 by EddieVedder

Lol Kyle Burroughs “pk specialist” imagine taking a penalty killer from perhaps the worst penalty killing team in 30 years and calling him a “pk specialist”

And he killed penalties on one of the "worst penalty kill units in 30 years" and played on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Sometimes, it's not your fault. Would I call Burroughs a PK specialist? Probably not. But he certainly wasn't the problem with our PK last season. The real laughable thing is, who the f*ck is that dude in the picture? That doesn't look like Kyle Burroughs, even when he was with the Isles. Who the heck is that guy? Am I crazy?

YearoftheNuck
I like this D a lot. Solid blend and skill, strength, offensive D and Defensive D. Hughes - Cole Soucy - Hronek Hirose - Myers Wolanin - Johanssen Brisebois - McWard Rathbone - Juulsen We’ve got some good depth now too.

If we end up getting a legit partner for Hughes then Soucy can play with Myers as the BIG nasty 3rd pairing with the ability to move up the lineup when needed. 1
