fanfor42
I remember watching him slay the dragon. Group of my kids and their friends and girlfriends/boyfriends all watching together at our place. Holding our breath until Burr got it done. Everyone went wild.. greatest goal in Canuck history for me and many others. Thx Burr. So glad he made an immediate impact in Ottawa. Love the guy.
Nucksfansince91
I live in Ottawa. Before tonight's game it was a 50/50 split on how fans felt about Burrows - they thought he was a "dirty" player, too old, wouldn't fit with their team, and hating the extension. Now, after the game...lol. I've gotten over 30 text messages saying how much they love him, plays with so much heart, and one even says he's a buying Burrows jersey. I actually hate sens fans haha Edited March 3, 2017 by Nucksfansince91

Salacious Crumb
Burr scores the game winning goal and the 1st guy that got to him was Dion Phaneuf. Barfed a bit.

Popular Post MJDDawg
Also found this entertaining little read on their board posted by a Canuck fan. Congratulations on your recent purchase of an Alex Burrows, Veteran Edition™! In order to get the most out of your new winger, please read the following instructions carefully. You might have heard well-publicized complaints from earlier editions of the Alex Burrows. Please be assured that engineers have addressed this, and the Veteran Edition will not cause any issues with biting or hair yanking. (We cannot, however, ensure the product will not aggravate, irritate or otherwise harass anyone wearing either a Boston Bruins or Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. This issue has caused few complaints from owners, however, and any occurrences should at least prove entertaining.) If you want to get the most out of him, care and maintenance of your Alex Burrows are paramount. Here are some suggestions to maximize your enjoyment. Be sure to store your Alex Burrows on a cool bench next to young, energetic players. You’ll find that your Burrows will help keep your rookies fresh, energetic, focused and productive. If you notice your Burrows is the first on and last off the ice, don’t fret; that behavior is normal and is well within product parameters. To keep your Burrows happy and healthy, be sure to feed him a good amount of penalty kill minutes each game. This will keep him sharp and chippy, and it should also improve the disposition of your goaltender. Additionally, for best results, be sure to place your Burrows in clutch situations. In particular, you will find him effective in slaying dragons and busting slumps. You might be unsure exactly where to situate your Burrows. Good news! You will find he is very adaptable to different environments, and will thrive in almost any situation. Try him in various spots throughout your lineup and choose the role where he seems the happiest. He does best when planted alongside an identical set of franchise twins, but has also been noted to excel next to a 21-year-old dynamic centre. There are a few caveats any Burrows owner should be aware of. He does not respond well to potato farmers and exposure should therefore be limited to avoid potential altercations. It should be noted that it’s quite common for a Burrows to be unintelligible in both English and French. If you don’t understand what your Burrows is saying, either ask him to repeat or just smile and nod. Additionally, the vocal pitch of your Alex Burrows might shift in proximity to a Marc Crawford, but the effect is temporary and should have no impact on his performance. Lastly, don’t be surprised if shortly after you plant him in your community, your Burrows grows roots. The fruit of a Burrows plant is very healthy and should be a welcome addition to your city. One final note: your new Burrows may result in a large number of west coast hockey fans joining your playoff bandwagon. They can be spotted by their natural green coats and playful-yet-cynical dispositions. Be kind to them, they probably just miss their Burrows very much. © 2017 Vancouver Courier - See more at: http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/the-official-alex-burrows-user-manual-1.10555304#sthash.Mc5vtiFU.dpuf
*Buzzsaw*
Burr is and will always be a pro. He will give everything he's got for the team whose jersey he wears. He will come into Vancouver one of these days, and after he acknowledges the standing ovation, he will play as hard as he can against the Canucks. Who knows how long he can keep it up... I wish the best for him... he earned everything he's ever gotten in this league.
PistolPete13
I wonder if O'Sullivan had the class to send a congratulatory tweet to Burrows.

Don't even like to muddy Burr's waters at this point with POS. Burr has moved on...this next chapter for him is an absolute testament to what he has become and his worth that, at 35 years old, teams are just starting to recognize. Patrick is staying stuck if his focus is what someone said years ago. We DID really need Burr and he was the type to put the teams' needs ahead of his own. Now it's time for him to get what he really needs, by way of sharing it all with his family and, hopefully, getting a cup. Next year, after the Sharks take this one.

To be honest Deb, If the contractual timing was the same, I would rather have seen the Twins move as a package for a single top 15 first rounder than Alex Burrows.. I believe he creates a symmetry mentoring young players because of his experiences to get where he is. And,. he can still play hard. 10 bucks says he is a Coach one day,. Possibly one of ours. Keep the red light burrning Alex.. grab those silver rims.
Bunter Shinkorvat
so glad our young guys had the opportunity to learn from him and play alongside him. this guy is a chameleon, a french canadian swiss army life who could play on any line and adapt to any style of play or tempo. just a testament to how hard he worked and turning himself into a guy who you could not take out of the lineup. i remember AV even using him as center for maybe 1 or 2 games. thanks for everything burr. so clutch always.

I actually felt a sense of frustration from them when Bieksa went and McCann and Jake were brought into the team - I suspected all these "damned with faint praise" interviews they gave spoke volumes. My reason for trading them and keeping Burr and Hansen was basically Burr and Hansen played a "universal game" By that I mean they still had speed, directness, compete and were able to respond physically, ( see Hansen's reaction to Kadri) all the things you would want from a vet along with a great capability to mentor the young players. Burr especially had a positivity and enthusiasm in everything he did, even when things were not going well for him. The Sedins are like boxers who have had their bell rang one too many times. Their speed has gone, their passing often puts the team in danger, they constantly have tunnel vision for each other, even where better options are there for all to see. They are still skilled and still tough but they are now easily penned in by opponents and their options shut down. Above all their ability to defend is now non existent. While the coach and JB are demanding 2 way players in almost every position the Twins are like fish out of water in their own end. I hate to admit this but while I appreciate we as yet don't have suitable alternatives this season, I fervently hope the Twins are not renewed and quite honestly I can't see any contender wanting them either. They need to retire at the top so that we will not remember them as they are now but how they have played magically for 15 years. At this point I must confess and say there was a time last season where I thought Burr had lost it but he recovered this season and was back to his best.

At this point I must confess and say there was a time last season where I thought Burr had lost it but he recovered this season and was back to his best. Was just listening to Boucher answer a reporters question about how Burr did in his first game. He talked about Burr's unbelievable story, then said from a systems standpoint, Burr had watched a bit of film and some drawings on a whiteboard and went in and played a perfect systems game for his first game. Hs said here's a guy who's spent the last 12 years playing a much different system coming in and even in practice was the one pointing out some things out in the defensive zone that these existing players are STILL struggling with. He mentioned that Burr hit, blocked shots and was everything Boucher wants his team to be. This after just one game. This stuff Boucher mentioned is where the team will miss Burr (and Hansen) the most. Setting an example for the young players coming in. The twins may be able to show the kids how to be professional off the ice, but Burr (and Hansen) were the leaders showing how to be professional on the ice.
