Shift-4
Why pick him up? When Booth and Kesler return he would probably just have to be waived anyways.
elvis15
oh okay, thought i heard something about the first month would be based on last years standings, guess i was just going crazy. nothing new there
UFCanuck
Two team Canada WJC Stars/High draft picks on Waivers within a month. (Hickey and Boychuk) This is why the World Juniors shouldn't be taken too seriously when trying to project players.
King Heffy
Boychuck-Hodgson-Eberle looked pretty damn good in the WJHC Not sure why they're giving up on him already, but he can't be any worse than Ebbett. MG should at least try to get him.
tas
it's amazing how many brilliant hockey minds we have posting here that are smarter than jim rutherford, a stanley cup winning general manager.

Trebreh
Boychuck will probably be claimed before us, but we should put a claim on McLaren! He would be a good goon for us, 25 yrs old, 6'5 230lbs. So Volpatti doesnt have to take on the heavyweights.
mangosteens
It's probably because of Canes' ownership actually needing that money freed. 675k might not seem a lot for a team like the Canucks but for the Canes - it financially handcuffs ownership over there. It's pretty sad.

Dr Green Lawn
I'd rather take a chance on Boychuk than friggin Andrew Ebbett.
elvis15
... You should tell this to Flames fans who are projecting Johnny Gaudreau as Patrick Kane 2.
whysoserious
Hasn't Zack Boychuck already been on waivers before and was passed up?
Smashian Kassian
Psh, we had Gaudreau before he was Gaudreau - and by that I mean we have Schroeder now who is still USA's points leader at the WJC.
Erik Karlsson
Gaudreau's hands are sick, if he gains some size he could deff be a good player in the league, but I think he's even shorter then Schroeder isn't he?

Dazzle
Well according to this article he was outplayed by Zac Dalpe and Drayson Bowman and there is not room for all 3 in the lineup. http://www.prosports...ers-773942.html Boychuck has produced more points than Schroeder in the AHL, so seems like he would be worth a look until Kesler gets back. Ebbett or Schroeder could be sent down.
Goalline
I remember the year he was drafted, some guy here was constantly pumping him up as a surefire star. Then again, some guys use being on waivers as a motivating force to get their career on track. Daniel Briere is a good example. Or more recently, Grabner. He won't fall through every single other team in the league to get to us. There are a number of teams that would take a flyer on him.
G.K. Chesterton
Not a good move by the Hurricanes. He'll get picked up fo' sho'.
