1. The Canucks are not a match here.

2. Hodgson is a pretty big part of the reason their F/Os suck.

3. Umberger, maybe? Like Umberger, Nikitin for Sekeras, Weber, Gerbe, pick?

Hodgson is one of their better face off men at 42.2% so that says a lot right there. Only Ott is better. Ennis is horrible at the dot.

I would hate to ruin our best defensive line for dross. I think we need to think hard. Tanev may suck without Ballard as he did in Chicago and Raymond and Schroeder look like they could light up big style once JS gets settled. The goalie trade is the only one that makes sense just now...........or maybe Booth (is there plenty of hunting in Buffalo?)

This post is a retard magnet. Buffalo is 35-41 in goals for-against. That's 3rd in GF in the league behind the Pens and Hawks. Meanwhile, they're tied for dead last in GA at 41 (tied with the floundering Caps). They can score just fine, they're just crap at defense. I mean Sulzer is getting PP and PK time on the Sabres for god sake. And you people think they need MORE offense and LESS defense?

Okay.

Trade Manny and ask for Ryan Miller. That way, we have three starting goaltenders!

We're pretty much in the exact same predicament as them. 9 NHL defencemen, a solid top-4 that aren't moving anywhere and a great 3rd pairing means that we have 3 depth guys who are getting scratched on a daily basis and aren't seeing any action.

Meanwhile we have 1 bonified scoring center in Henrik, 2 checking centers that don't provide much offence in Lapierre and Malhotra, Schroeder who is not yet a consistent NHL producer and Kesler who for all we know may not be the same player he once was. So essentially we have 3 NHL centermen out of 4, and 9 defencemen when we only need 6.

Detroit is probably calling everyday. They have a ton of forward depth, and need defensive depth. Perfect match IMO.

Helm/Abdelkader for Regier/Leopold + ?

What about Matt Cullen (MIN) for Alexander Sulzer (BUF)/or Adam Pardy?

Cullen seems like a pretty decent faceoff guy for a team that needs FO help.

Alexander Sulzer is a more offensive type defenceman or Pardy is much more defensive and could provide some grit for a Minnesota team that can capitalize on size.

Maybe Buf can put Gerbe in the trade but could Gerbe succeed in the West? He might ignite someone like Setoguchi who isn't doing too great atm.

We can use a shutdown D like Robyn Regehr. I think we would be a lot more competitive against bigger teams with him in front of our net.

None, but it would maybe make sense in a 3-way if a team needed a L-sided defenseman, as Edler obviously excels on the R-side, I'm not necessarily advocating this, but a possibility could be:

To Detroit: Ballard, Pardy

To Vancouver: Regehr, Stafford

To Buffalo: Abdelkader, Raymond, Alberts

Or something along those lines. But a trade like that would likely never happen so MOOT point.

You mean cap space? Thanks to Kesler and Booth's injuries there are some pro-rated cap space to work with, according to capgeek. Plus we can actually move a forward to Buffalo as they have asked.

I don't see why Buffalo would do that trade. (Assuming the 3 way thing is acceptable for the teams)

They just got even weaker and they don't even get 'youth' out of it, if they were planning to tank.

Just seems like a trade for the sake of making a trade.

Regehr's ok but I really think he's akin to Hamhuis.

Why would the Canucks want any of the Buffalo dmen?

Myers is horrible.
Regehr is a 7th dman at this point.
Leopold/weber/etc. are useless to this team.
I doubt Gillis would trade for Ehrhoff after he left for the money. He didn't want him at the price then, wouldn't want him now.
Sulzer appears to be one of their better dmen. He'd be nice but don't see him fitting anywhere on the Canucks.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

To Buffalo:
Higgins

To Vancouver:
Regehr

To Colorado:
Ballard
Mallet or LaBate
4th round pick

To Vancouver:
O'Reilly

Lose a bit of offence and chemsitry in Ballard, but gain a shutdown D we need so bad.
Lose on of the 2/3 tweeners we have to get a bonafide 2nd liner in O'Reilly.

Do we add something more than Higgins to get Regehr?
