R3aL
Lots of scouts/reporters hyping him up as one of the best offensive d in the draft. Here's hoping we have our lucky 5th round dman pick for another consecutive year! We are 5th round lucky with our hidden d gems!! Could be a great pick and at 5 11 he isnt all that undersized and when he adds weight by the time hes AHL or NHL ready hell be fine size for an offensive dman! Hope he develops! Guest Dasein
Hoping he grows an inch or two! But if he puts on the lbs, 5'11" isn't THAT undersized either.

CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Does anyone know if a CHL team holds his rights? Would love to see him come over to play in the Juniors and how he able to hold up there
DrChill
I remember seeing this guy play with nylander, great pick, this guy could surprise Lots of scouts/reporters hyping him up as one of the best offensive d in the draft. Here's hoping we have our lucky 5th round dman pick for another consecutive year! Sounds a lot like a Swedish Frankie Corrado, No? Corrado is a mid sized two way D, not a guy who rushes the puck and quarterbacks the PP. Edit: Forsling better described as a Swedish Torey Krug? Draft Guys on 1040 had this kid at 46. Says his offensive upside is very comparable to that of Julius Honka, but says the difference is his ability to handle the forecheck is lesser than that of Honka. BUT, definately one of the top offensive d-men in the draft. Bigger than Krug or Honka. This is instead of Roland at 3 (vey trade)

Plum
Great skater, good passer, can jump into the rush or QB the PP, and has a very good shot. Swedes are getting some good defencemans lately, I think this can add to it. I see him playing in the NHL in 3 years.
elvis15
Does anyone know if a CHL team holds his rights? Would love to see him come over to play in the Juniors and how he able to hold up there It only matters what league he was playing in the year he was drafted. Since he was playing in the SEL, he's not bound by the CHL/NHL agreement, even if he came over next year and played for a CHL team (as Cederholm did this past season). Gaudette Celly
Size is always a factor but his skating and hockey I.Q make up for it. Definite pattern in the players Benning is acquiring. Also, good to see he likes a bit of gravy with his meat and potatoes on occasion.
Gyllenhaal
http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/27/nhl-draft-scouting-reports-76-100/ 89. Gustav Forsling, D, Linkopings (5’11″ 176 lbs): Very impressive at the Under 18 IIHF World Hockey Championship putting up 4 goals in 7 games for Sweden. An undersized offensive defenceman, with great skating in both directions, and strong passing skills, both in starting the rush and in quarterbacking the powerplay. He loves to join the rush or lead it. Forsling has an outstanding point shot, and his one-timer is an absolute rocket. Also, Gradin said that Gustav is "offensively creative", and compared his shot to Salo's. Like other euros, he has a pass-first mentality, but still has an effective shot. He also said that it's easier to teach players to play defense than offense.

Plum
Gradin is such a beast IMO, he always gets those good Swedes. Lately he's gotten Cederholm, Tommernes (7th rounder playing in the AHL is a great pick), Blomstrand (progressing), lately these are doings good for late picks. Add Forsling too he sounds like he'll be a nice player aswell.
elvis15
Apparently he wanted us to add Nylander as well, but no go. Our mid round picks this year are intriguing though.
canucksVSflames89
I agree with you elvis15. These 2 mid picks are exactly what I like to see with later picks. Intriguing skill sets with good ceilings of talent

DRAFT NOTES: Swedish scout Thomas Gradin said Canuck fifth-round pick Gustav Forsling is like a left-sided Sami Salo the way the defenceman shoots the puck. http://www.vancouversun.com/Draft+Notes+Canucks+complete+trick/9986785/story.html Let's hope that Gradin pulled yet another gem for the Nucks.
