If Boeser only signs to burn a year I won't agree with that but could live with it.

Werenski signed an ahl deal after college last year and didn't burn a year off his elc. He then came to camp, earned a nhl spot and has had an amazing rookie season.

Werenski was a top 10 pick. Boeser was a 1st rounder but not high end. Turn pro go join Utica for their playoff run then make our team next fall.

That's my .02

To be fair it is widely agreed that in a re draft Boeser goes around 10 spots higher.

Some players will sit out regardless - look at R.J. Umberger for instance. Did not sign with the Canucks and sat out an entire year before we traded him to the New York Rangers on March 9th 2004. Ultimately, he ended up sitting it out three months longer until he was able to sign as a free agent with Philadelphia on June 16th 2004.

We lost out on a drafted player, but managed to get some compensation before he left thankfully. Rangers lost out the most on trade, but ultimately both teams lost value because he walked.

RJ didn't sign here because Burke was lowballing him, like we are talking a 100k difference between what the Umberger camp wanted and Burke refused to budge

Okay well just pointing out werenski was 8th overall in the same draft as brock. So signing a pro tryout to finish the year isn't a bad thing or a slap in the face to him. Especially when a higher pick chose to do the same that and not join a dismal blue jackets team last season.

Let him try to help Utica in meaningful games then come fall see if he can cracking our nhl roster

Different people, different players, different situations. It doesn't matter if we burn the first year. He likely gets more money sooner but we could come out ahead through the life of his RFA contract status.

Can see what people mean when they talk about his skating.  It's not that he doesn't get around alright, but that he doesn't keep his feet moving.  This is something that Gaunce admitted he had to learn, too -- his speed was decent and improved further, but it was only once he kept moving and stopped the gliding and coasting that his game really picked up.  Sounds like Virtanen's been learning that as well... even though Jake at a coast still flies by most people.  All in all, some Greening might be the best thing for Brock right now.

Hat-trick for Brock in a losing effort...that's what I'm pulling for....hope they have a live feed going on.

Boeser is not going to be needing time in the AHL to beat out just about anyone on our bottom 6 for a spot next year....here's hoping we can see some of that this season....

Disagree completely.  No need to put him in a bottom 6 role in Van, when he can play top 6 with fellow young guys in Utica.  Much better for his development, imo.  The Canucks are going to be a mess for another year or two, best to keep him on the farm to cook.
