TheRussianRocket.
@FriedgeHNIC: Bryan Bickell is on waivers today @generalfanager: If not claimed, Bickell in the AHL would of course only provide $950,000 in cap space, the rest ($3.05M) would hit the cap as buried salary. Lol. Don't get why teams are tempted to sign 1 hit wonders who go off in the playoffs to deals they've never would have earned. Clarkson/Bickell...recipe for disaster. Wonder if anyone takes a flyer on him
Warhippy
The Oilers will jump on this if they're smart, as will a number of other teams. Playoff performer or at least playoff stalwart. Solid bottom 6 player. And will still leave the Hawks on the hook for some cash. Yes, someone will claim him Edit* Was thinking of the recapture clause for retirement contracts for some reason. Ignore the hawks on hook for cash comment
thejazz97
The Oilers were trying to trade for Bickell, apparently.
Ghostsof1915
Quick put Vey on waivers. Bickell > Vey.
TheRussianRocket.
Quick put Vey on waivers. Bickell > Vey. Funny thing it's true though. A roll of hockey tape > Vey
aliboy
It's his health that is the issue, not just the contract, I believe his knees are the problem. If it weren't for that I would say pick him up.
Gaudette Celly
When it comes to contracts, Bowman is a genius and Benning an idiot. Now he could lose an asset for nothing but capspace. What brilliant asset management, not like Benning if did the same with Vey or had likewise done with Garrison, even though he got an asset back. Right, CDC? HC20.0
Bickell ran into the same problem as Ville Leino. Average hockey player who had a good playoff run and got paid stupid amounts of money for it. Not a bad player at all, but for his price tag... Yikes. Right, CDC? the difference is bending gives up assets for vey and prust, bowman waives dead-weight and moves on

Warhippy
you don't know what you're talking about, do you. I tend to know exactly what I am talking about there champ. But I was thinking of a different contract or style of contract So cute of you to chime in though bud with such an amazing assumption. Must be hard to avoid being an adult about things like Monty was. Changes nothing, should the Oilers want him and his knees hold up he'd be a great addition to their bottom 6. They like over paying players and we all know Chiarelli likes his Bickel type guys
Ossi Vaananen
MPS cleared today, I thought some one would grab him. Bickell could well cleared, as teams might not have the cap space for him. I'm getting more and more comfortable with the idea of waiving Vey. There are better players out there who would sooner get claimed.
hatedkid666
A team with a ton of cap space should pick him up
mangosteens
I would pass on Bickell. $4M cap hit is way too much and he's 29. Drew Shore is the most interesting player on waivers today in my opinion.
Chalky
If Bowman is clearing ~4m in cap space by waiving Bickell perhaps he is expecting a favourable outcome with Kane. That or he is looking to bring in Gustav Forsling.
Master Mind
Hopefully no one will pick him up. Any team who does is helping the Hawks more than their own team.
