I'll do my best.

The league won't get into worrying about trade conditions, all they need to do is determine the standings. Seems like it will be based on point percentage if the tweety talking heads are correct but we have to wait and see.

oh come on

you can do better then this

nucks did not actually derive the benefit they bargained for in the miller trade

they did not actually make the playoffs

or reap any playoff revenue from this deal

that clearly was expected from 1st round compensation

at the very least the 1st rounder should be downgraded to perhaps a 2nd rounder?

yes we did, we've got him for 3 more years

we may have - have to wait and see the ruling on who's in

too soon to say, we have to see in a month

:bigblush:

not wanting to argue against you

wanting to argue with you

to put the nucks in the best position on this trade

time to get creative

i say the starting position is that the nucks did not get what they bargained for

and some relief is in order

because the mechanism of the trade as it was framed

cannot be carried out

cancelling the trade does not work either

as the nucks "developed" miller from a 3rd line player to a 1st line player

that is a remarkable improvement in asset value

i think we may have a day or 2, maybe 3, where these sorts of hockey based discussions

will actually have value

after that this will seem more trivial

so i'm using this short time frame to get a final hockey fix

before my interest will be suspended due to life circumstances

Actually, I think that's pretty much how it played out...

Miller for 1st '20 or '21 - 3rd '19 - Mazanec

Toffoli for Madden - 2nd '20 - Schaller

Let's just hope we are able to resign Toffoli.

Well that’s the point...

I’m hoping each team gets two of those compliance buyouts this summer to help with the loss of revenue from the league shutdown.  Then we buy out Loui and Myers.  Saves us 12 million.

Myers. Why the hell Myers?
The Canucks aren’t as good without Myers.
This is not Gudbranson.

I like Myers’ play and also his nasty. He stands up for others.

Eriksson & Sutter are my choices.

Myers has four more years at six million.  With the cap coming down, or at best stagnating, for a couple years we need to cut cap that carries into next year and the years after.  Tree is a way cheaper and better option than Myers.

No. The point was and still is... whoever I was quoting added Petey into the equation. Which I pointed out, removed and then it basically boiled down to exactly what happened.

Yes friend. The point was to illustrate what the entire first line cost in assets. And then the question, would you do that trade.

I posted it.

Myers is worth his six million dollars a year.

Eriksson isn’t worth his.

Sutter’s time in Vancouver should come to an end. He has a lot of energy but he tends to lose dump and chase battles. I think the game has passed him.

Sutter and Baer both need to go too, but they only have next season left.  I wouldn’t use a compliance buyout on a guy with only one season left, when Myers has 4 years at 6 mil left on his.

Alf.

Players have long-term contracts. That’s how it works. Come on man.

4yrs of Myers for what he brings is fine by me. The Canucks have bigger problems than Myers’ play.

Eriksson, Sutter, Bärtschi, Goldobin is plenty off the books.

Is the cap coming down due to the lost revenue from this season shut down?

I’m guessing the cap has to adjust, because of lost revenue.  I’m hopeful the league gives each team a couple compliance buyouts to help get them through the difficult time.  Buying out Loui and Myers saves us 12 million off the cap.

Okay alf who replaces Myers ? his a top four D , that can play in all areas.....edler and Myers make a good two way pairing and Myers would work with OJ or Rathbone in theory also.

So having Myers and the type D prospects we have benefit each other......

well since there will be so many other players bought out as well

we can sign a former high paid player like meyers

for a league minimum salary

maybe the nhl will waive the requirement that bought out players cannot return to their former team

so then buy out meyers and re-sign him to a 5 year contract

at league minimum salary per season

Didn't Colorado do that, then the caps signed orpik or how ever you spell his name...for dirty cheap.....

but is the risk worth it? Myers could go sign some where else, you want to take that risk?
