Great minds, eh Kenny?  I just thought that having those guys on either side of Pete would give him a ton of space and great protection.  I like Miller's playmaking abilities, which allows Pete to be a shooter as well as playmaker.  The second line (which I think of as 1B has already proven itself time and again.  Killer B's it is!

Ferland Guadette Virtanen

Leivo Beagle Motte

(MacEwen)

Edler Myers

Hughs Stecher

Hutton Benn

(Fatenburg Biega)

PP1

Pettersson Horvat Boeser

Edler Hughs

PP2

Miller Gaudette Ferland

Myers Pearson

PK1

Horvat Ferland

Edler Stecher

PK2

Beagle Motte

Hutton Benn

Markstrom

Demko

Notes

Roussel is on IR

I fully expect Eriksson, Sutter, Tanev, and Baertchi to be traded and Hutton to be resigned if Tanev is traded. If not the third pairing would be Benn and Tanev. For the first 25 games or so I think they’ll play two D men on PP1 until Hughs matures and Edler is bumped down to PP2 replacing Myers and Miller moves up. I have Goldobin in the first line because I think he has chemistry with Pettersson, but him and Miller are interchangable with the possibility of Ferland and Goldobin swapping if Goldobin has already been bumped by Miller. MacEwen is the 13th forward because he’s a good depth guy. Biega and Fatenburg as D man 7/8 cause who doesn’t like Bulldog and Fatenburg is a cheap depth guy. I also expect Juolevi to be called up sometime during the year if Hutton or Stecher is traded (if Hutton resigns) Most likely either Goldobin or Virtanen will be traded to make room for Roussel. I expect Horvat to recieve the “C” and Edler, Beagle and Pearson to recieve the “A”. Edler because he’s the longest tentured Canuck and Beagle and Pearson because they’ve both won cups earlier in their careers.

I haven't been this excited for a season to start in a long time. Every year there seems to be a player or two to look forward to, but this year it seems like everything is coming together.

Pettersson's encore

a healthy Boeser

Captain Bo now has a real good winger (J.T. Miller)

a full season from Hughes

do we finally see Juolevi?

Demko takes another step

will Gaudette, Goldobin and Virtanen come to camp better?

an improved D with Myers and Benn

Ferland has their backs, and he can play

Special Teams take a big jump this year. The PP will be deadly.

No room for Goldy.

I like the size and desire.

Shades of 94.

I like this one with a single change, Pearson up with Bo and Bear with Sutter and JV, that line needs a better sniper and Bo and Pearson seemed to have something good going.

On d:

Edler-Tanev

Hughes-Myers

Benn-Stecher

Fantenberg-Biega

These won’t be the lines, but I wonder about the following:

Miller-Pettersson-Boeser

Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen

Pearson-Gaudette-Ferland

Leivo-Beagle-Sutter

Motte (Roussel)

Edler-Myers

Benn-Stecher

Hughes-Tanev (this could also be the 2nd pairing obviously, but I suspect that Green/Benning will want to break Hughes in a bit slowly so that he’s not overburdened in his first year.  Hughes with 3rd pairing duty unless he proves that he’s ready for far more.  Hughes can also get loads of PP time.  Have Tanev help him get his feet wet.  Tanev being used in a 3rd pairing role might also help his body a bit and could make him less susceptible to injuries as the year progresses.  Tanev being used in a 3rd pairing role 5 on 5 could also help Tanev save energy for the PK).

to start the season drop of the puck I would think something like this But After 5 minutes who knows ?

Ferland Pettersson Boeser

Pearson Horvat Miller

Baertschi Sutter Virtanen

Leivo beagle Eriksson

   Schaller or Motte

   Roussel ...Out at start

Gaudette top line in Utica first call up

Goldobin ,,,Absolutely No Idea ...Hope he lights it up in training camp

one of  Lind , Gadjovich, MacEwen or Jasek all right wingers will advance this season

Edler Tanev

Benn Myers

Hughes Stecher

   Fantenberg

Juolevi will hopefully advance to Canucks sometime this season

Markstom

Demko

Canucks have way too many players who can play Left wing . would rather try Miller with Petey But not enough top Right wingers. Hopefully Jake will take that next step this year

Spread out the talent & have 3 lines that can score.... virtanen gets 0 love. He had 15 goals last year playing with scraps for half the year & essentially no pp. He has more upside & potential playing with Horvat then Pearson or baertchi.

Give the kid a real chance!

Ferland-petterrsen-boesar

Miller-horvat-virtanen

Baertchi-gaud-Pearson

Sutter-beagle-leivo

Goldobin

I was curious, what if Gillis and Benning had the benefit of hind site and were able to re-draft their 1sts from 2008:

What they got:

Virtanen - Pettersson - Podkolzin

Gaunce - Horvat - Boeser

_____ - Hodgson - Jensen

Schroeder

Juolevi - Hughes

McNally

What they could've had (players taken after the actual picks):

Larkin (Virtanen) - O'Reilly (Schroeder) - Kucherov (Jensen)

Aho (Boeser) - Pettersson - Podkolzin

Pearson (Gaunce) - Horvat - Gallagher (McNally)

E. Karlsson (Hodgson) - McAvoy (Juolevi)

Hughes

I'm sure it's like this for all teams. I believe they nailed the Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes and Podkolzin picks.

This is with the thought that Sutter gets traded and LE (retires) + Schaller gets buried in the minors.

Goldy EP40 Ferland

Pearson Bo Boeser

Baer Miller Virtanen

Motte Beagle Leivo

Edler Myers

Hughes Tanev

Benn Stetcher

That third line would destroy teams.

Unfortunately leaves the top 2 lines a little exposed for grit/toughness

For some reason I feel Miller and Virtanen are going to have some good chemistry. Jake and JT are both are creating positive Corsi. I'm curious if JT can help Jake translate that strong possession game into points.

I am really curious to see 47, 9, 18 together. I hope we a chance to view them together.

I'm not sure if we need a shut down line at all.

Ferland - Pettersson - Pearson

Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser

Virtanen - Miller - Eriksson

Goldobin - Gaudette - MacEvan

And one of the following

Sutter - Motte - Beagle - Leivo

When needed we can put Horvat/Eriksson/Motte and a few others as a temporary shut down unit with a much better defense behind them this year.

Edler - Myers

Hughes - Benn

Stecher - Tanev

But projected line up it was:

Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser

Baertschi - Horvat - Pearson

Virtanen - Miller - Eriksson

Leivo - Sutter - Motte

Goldobin

Edler Myers

Hughes - Benn

Stecher - Tanev
