  1. Prediction: Lucic signs in Tampa or Toronto for <$1M. Tampa doesn’t mind slower guys in their bottom-6, provided they can wear down the opponents in the playoffs. Toronto because of the Treliving connection.
  2. Meh, I don’t really care either way. I don’t think he’s fast enough…but then again our bottom-6 has been trash for years now. He might be a modest improvement on our other options.
  3. Nice to see the Rangers starting to lose prospects to free agency. For years they have been on the receiving end of that, most notably with Adam Fox. But there have been many others (Jimmy Vesey and Tim Erixon, off the top of my head…). Perhaps agents are realizing that, outside of Fox, the team hasn’t been overly good at developing these guys into successful NHL-ers. And because of their depth on the NHL team, legitimate guys are getting blocked and now seem to be looking elsewhere.
  4. There’s still room for a 3rd guy on the line to do the digging. Chicago will want Bedard scoring points and having fun, despite the team likely losing a lot for a couple more years. Not to mention it makes it more entertaining for the fans. Even if Boeser ends up one-dimensional (he was last year, but the year prior was solid defensively too), it’s the dimension that will keep things fun.
  5. Just made it! Now on to the next impossible mission…
  6. That makes sense for a number of reasons. A big one is, as a Canucks fan growing up, Bedard has probably been a huge fan of Boeser. They lived in the same area for the last 6 years, and Brock can tell him stories of all the other players Connor grew up admiring. On top of this, Brock is an American, who would be keenly aware of the differences of living in Vancouver vs. living in the US. He can be a good mentor for Bedard for off-ice things as well. And lastly, Boeser is still young enough that, if the fit is better than expected, and both sides want to keep it going, Chicago can extend him without worrying about him aging out in their window.
  7. Personally, I like the idea of keeping Myers until his bonus is paid, then seeing who has an injury or disappointments at training camp. At worst, we can put him on waivers then, and a cash-conscious team like Arizona will jump at the chance. No sweeteners needed, and his cap will be off the books to start the season.
  8. I like the idea of trying to do Boeser/Garland + #11 for #19 plus a 2nd, and maybe even a later pick. I think that could work well for both sides. Boeser is probably the best fit. He is by all accounts a great teammate, and his skills should compliment Bedard. I suspect he’ll do well enough to plug a hole for Chicago for 1.5 years, and they’ll likely get a pick for him at the 2025 deadline. For Vancouver, there is the obvious cap clearing benefit. But also, they may end up with as valuable of a prospect anyways. The BPA at #11 is most likely going to be a winger. Personally, I think C’s and D’s are worth so much more than wingers (a quality 3C or #4 D-man is harder to find than a 2nd line winger). There are lots of Cs and Ds projected to go around 19, and into the 2nd round. Hitting on at least 1 of the picks we get from Chicago is more likely than hitting a home run on the #11 pick, even if what is generally accepted as “upside” isn’t quite as high.
  9. My grandma (who passed away years ago) was named Karen. She was one of my favourite people in the whole world. So although I get the joke, I refuse to feel anything negative toward that name. When the situation demands it, b**** still works just fine.
  10. Try already came to Vancouver, and didn’t like it. Why…of all 32 cities/teams…would he come back here?
  11. The Playlist - 1st episode, 7.5/10, but series… 5/10? Netflix series about the people behind the creation of Spotify. The first episode was really engaging, and the idea of telling the story from different points of view for each episode sounded interesting. But by the 3rd episode, it was totally dragging, and I shut it off halfway through the 4th one. Completely lost interest. (Also saw on IMDB that the last episode has TERRIBLE ratings, even the people who loved the rest said to just stop after episode 5.)
  12. Emily The Criminal - 8/10 (Now on Netflix) This is a really good indie flick. It’s about the pressures that push ordinary people into crime, and how some people end up having a knack for it (while others don’t). Aubrey Plaza was fantastic in it.
  13. I keep waiting for Bobrovsky to suddenly realize he’s not that good anymore. This long break and the pressure of the Final might end up the catalyst for it. If that happens, Vegas will roll them. Was going to guess Vegas in 5, but no one voted for the sweep, so what the heck? Vegas in 4! (Ps. - Hope I’m totally wrong, and Lu gets his cup!)
  14. Thanks to @HighOnHockey and @Bombastik der Teutone for the negotiations. Attempted to extend Lehkonen, but already had 2 top-6 LW-ers on the team. And just about tried extending Moore, but decided to avoid long-term commitments right now. Decided in both cases to get something for their rights rather than watch them walk for nothing. A rebuild in Carolina is on the horizon. Likely will be another year though…But that will depend on how next season goes. If Hedman and Vasi look rejuvenated after their first decent offseason since the Columbus sweep, then I’ll have to give them one more shot.
  15. Carolina Hurricanes release the RFA rights to Ivan Fedotov. Sounds like he's too scared to try leaving again, and will just stick with CKSA. @Nail
  16. It was from a slash by Kasperi Kapanen. https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/kasperi-kapanen-injures-ethan-bear-at-world-championship
  17. There would be no better way to stick it to Shanahan and the Leafs than to turn Ottawa into a contender. Can you even imagine? How many tears will be shed when the Sens eliminate the Leafs from the playoffs? Multiple times at that?
  18. I suspect they’ll trade a D-man, possibly Hanifin. Kylington is ready to return.
  19. Yeah, doesn’t make much sense for a team already thin at center.
  20. Here are some players taken with picks 11-20: Charlie McAvoy Mattew Barzal Nick Suzuki Kyle Connor Martin Necas Thomas Chabot Noah Dobson Josh Norris Matt Boldy Robert Thomas Cole Caulfield Would you trade any of these players for Cody Glass? It’s true, there’s a decent chance that the player picked ends up worse than Glass, but you’re also trading the opportunity to hit a home run. Not to mention that even if Glass exceeds expectations, his price will go up soon, and isn’t far from UFA status. The guy picked with #11 is under team control for years.
  21. The NHL is full of guys who were disappointing to their first team, who took their game to new levels after getting traded: Sam Bennett Kevin Fiala Tage Thompson Pavel Zacha Jared McCann Valeri Nichushkin Philipp Danault Kyle Turris Andre Burakovsky Chandler Stephenson Tyler Seguin Kyle Palmieri …Markus Naslund
