If you can get a 14 month pay from your employer, you would settle for 12 month? If Miller signs with the Canucks he and his agent knows fully well that they can/should squeeze an eight year contract. Who hasn't? Huberdeau/Zibanejad/Landeskog/Couturier. Most player contracts are designed to end when players are 29-30 years old and then they get 1 last huge 8 year deal.

The best time to trade Miller is today, because his value is at its highest right now.
The second best day is the day before the season opens. The price will likely have to drop somewhat.
The final best day is the trade deadline day. He'll be a rental and not worth nearly as much as he is today. Ergo, if you are going to trade him, work the phones until you get a deal. I love the guy, but if you think this summer has been all about Miller trade talk, then just wait for it to amp up if Miller starts the season in Vancouver. Y'ain't seen nuthin' yet.
