  1. If EA was smart, they would have released a limited Swedish cover edition only in Vancouver since they already made it.
  2. Even with the additions of the top six players on the Canucks. I still think Goldy is in the top four in terms of offensive ability. The problem with Goldobin is that Green tried to take an offensive young player and try to turn him into a two way player too early in his career. He's offensive, not defensive. I remember a long stretch where Goldi was the third leading scorer on the team for a long time. He does what he was drafted to do which is put points on the board. Goldy was always billed as an offensive young player so it confuses me sometimes why he has been criticized so much on the defensive end. What left is a confused young kid who no longer believes in the things he does on the ice. It reminds me of a little like Virtanen's situation when he was forced to change his game too early in his career. Also, why do rookies get criticized in public at all? Isn't that what the locker room is for. They did that with Virtanen, Tryamkin and now Goldy. How many other organizations do that to thier young players? What gets me is that there seems to be a double standard in the team. There are huge defensive issues on Boeser's game but he seems to have a pass as no one really talks about it. When I look around the league with young players, most of them are not great defensively but they learn over time. With Goldy it seems like he is being forced to figure it all out too soon. I can understand the need for the player to play defense because the Canucks were constantly being attacked in their own end but picking on the rookie does no one any favors.
  3. There are a lot of individual states in the US that have high taxes as well. California being one. The arguement with taxes for me is that it has nothing to do with what happens on the ice. There are many Canadian teams in the past who have iced Stanley Cup contending teams even with tax issues. The Canucks went through almost a decade where they were contenders every year. So I'm not sure I would subscribe to this.
  4. My dream line. The Flow-Petey-F bomb
  5. I like that we now have more added ability for secondary scoring. Last year where teams knew that if they shut down Pettersson, Canucks scoring would dry up. With Miller and hopefully a Calder worthy playmaker in Hughes, the top line will have a lot of help. I didn't like how Petey would get pushed around and was worried about Quinn who is even smaller. The addition of Myers, Ferland and Benn is going to make other teams think twice about running our guys. A little pushback would be great. I'm interested to see a Brock-Petey-Ferland line. Maybe he can do for Petey what Bert did for Nazzy.
  6. On paper, I think we are absolutely a playoff team. Will have to fight tooth and nail but a playoff team. My only concern is with the injuries. I don't know if it is bad luck or what but the Canucks have lost a ton of man games due to injuries. I don't know about a lot of fans here but I remember last year, instead of looking at a score of a game, the first thing I checked was who got hurt. The worst thing I have noticed is how often a day to day goes into weeks and weeks or from weeks to months. I don't know who the doctors are but they are about as accurate as the weather forecasters. I don't see as much of that on other teams in the league. Ranting aside, if the Canucks are going to be a playoff team, they are going to have to find ways to minimize injuries.
  7. Chirelli becomes GM of the Wild and trades for Puljujarvi then the Hockey Gods snicker.
  8. No one really talks about him or still knows anything about him. Check out his thread on the Prospects forum it's like 7 pages long and last time anyone posted there was two months ago.
  9. Considering Dahlen is gone and Karlsson is basically a forgotten prospect, does that mean we got nothing for Burrows?
  10. Can I have confidence in the front office but not the coaching?
  11. How many teams in the NHL do you think Baer would actually make the top six on? I'm not even sure he would make in on the Canucks top six now.
  12. If it's not Juolevi by now then he's a bust. Especially when you consider the other first rounders already on the Canucks who have been drafted after him.
  13. Those turnovers have more to do with cap relief so they can keep their core players more than anything else. Vancouver did not have such Maple Leaf cap problems, That and a need to fix their crappy defence.
  14. How is Ohlund off the list for Canucks?
  15. Maybe there was so much turnover because the coach can't figure out how to get players to play well together.
  16. I guess I might be in the minority on this but I haven't liked a coach on the Canucks since AV. Torts was really the only real coach the Canucks but he wasn't well liked. Now seeing his success in Columbus, it really makes me wonder if he got a fair shake in Vancouver. Willie and Green are more qualified to be assistant coaches than NHL coaches. While they can help with development, their lack of ability to play the game of chess in coaching and that comes from being in the league for a long time and knowing tendencies of opposition players, puts them at a disadvantage. I often question Green's line deployment and lack of creativity. Take the end of last year. Pettersson basically when silent in goal scoring and a lot of it was because he kept looking for the pass to Boeser. Any other coach would at least split them up a couple of games to see what happens. I remember AV, apart from the Sedins, he would juggle the lines like a circus act just to spark certain players. I don't really see Green proactively do that.
  17. They don't care, it's not Marner. Everything is Marner.
