in case y'all weren't aware, there IS more to being a Canuck than your current on-ice performance.  Burr has a history and has earned every day he spends in a Canucks uniform.

Until someone younger and cheaper can fill his role.

Hockey is a results business. Yes, Burrows has a great history with the club as have many over the last 40+ years. The team and game moves on. Teams that hang on to players too long or for the wrong reasons don't succeed.

burrows contract calls for a salary of $3 mill next year

cap hit is $4.5 mill

we'll see how he does next year

but i still would want him back for another 2 years after that

to play 4th line and move up the line up when necessary

at $2.5 mill or so per year

edit: remember he basically came out of no where, was undrafted, became a critical part of a very good canucks team, was the only player smart enough to play with the sedins, and has earned close to $30 million over the course of his career.   you want to show a player what a very good work ethic might get you? introduce him to burrows.  no one in canuck history has done more with such low expectations than burrows has

How could anyone suggest his past performance gives him the right to produce very little today with a huge salary and outrageous cap hit? He has lived the dream and been very well compensated. The team does not owe him anything. Sentimentality is not going to improve the team's performance or win a cup. Just ask LA. Problem is, he is not worth anything to entice a trade. I'd wave him next year if he's still around.

he's been playing better, but todays game again. For his contract 4.5, which he shouldn't of gotten consistency seems to be his biggest challenge.

shouldn't have, not shouldn't of

Also, he earned that contract.
