Offensive Threat
2001: A Space Odyssey Iconic soundtrack for one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Hell , one of the best movies ever made period. and it takes 28 minutes into the movie before the first word of dialog is spoken.
The Bookie
the first hellraiser movie had a great score. not too many horror movies pay that much attention to the soundtrack to fit the mood of the film oooh good call - I'll also suggest the Ennio Morricone/John Carpenter score for The Thing (personal favorite movie of all time) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdcvBSRVkUU

JoshuaGuy
Two of my favorites are Gladiator and Braveheart. Obviously easy choices as good movies but I think it's the music that made them great.
Canada Hockey Place
Great thread. You guys really know your stuff. I recommend David Holmes. Best known for Ocean's Eleven. This is one of my favourites. Not from a movie but..... should be. Interesting that put Monty Norman as the composer. Not John Barry, who most people still give credit too because of his re-arrangement which was used for most of the Bond films. Fun fact - this is this original piece Norman used in court to prove he wrote it.

-DLC-
You know, sometimes you get a very unexpected surprise... For me, I stumbled across this gem innocently enough...took my daughter and her friends to a movie for her birthday. Was blown away by the cinematography, score/soundtrack and the simplicity of this entire movie.

For me, I stumbled across this gem innocently enough...took my daughter and her friends to a movie for her birthday. Was blown away by the cinematography, score/soundtrack and the simplicity of this entire movie. This lass had an early 90's track,'Passionate Kisses' that I really dug. DollarAndADream
I always loved the score from Inception. Especially Time. Also, the Tron: Legacy score was pretty good with Daft Punk. This one always pops into my head: Have to say, Lord of the Rings is one of my favourites. From the OP's post. The main theme will be in my head forever. Kryten
Into the Wild has some great tracks. I also like a few in One Week (I particularly liked weighty ghost). I also liked Garden State for New Slang and a few other tracks I was unaware existed until I saw that film.
