dalredane
Remember after we got swept in the playoffs and Gillis promised a "reset" of the organization.... I am not saying blow-up the team, but a reset to me, means more than: 1. getting a new coach 2. importing other teams' waived 4th line players (Santorelli and Richardson) Granted Santorelli and Richardson have done well in the faceoff circle and bring assistance to the penalty kill. However they are not Top 9 forward solutions. While their energy and tenacity has been consistent, they cannot be in any stretch of the imagination be a "reset". More like a "minor tweak". Let's face it, the twins and Kesler are not going anywhere, so the only options for a real reset are the trade of our host of other under-achieving and small forwards and/or some of our defensive corps. We still look like an above average regular season team and a below average playoff team. There was no "reset". Thoughts?
Ronalds.Kenins41
Everyone totally misunderstood what MG meant by reset. He didn't mean rebuild or hiring a new coach for that matter. What he meant was he was going to operate differently from here on. Instead of trying to "win now" and "sacrifice the future" (he will not trade draft picks/prospects for rentals) he is going to sign players to low cap hits from free agency and focus on drafting and developing prospects properly so that they are NHL ready. This will give a few years to use the prospects to "win later". In short MG will now "win later" instead of "win now". You can see the huge change since the draft in the way he operates. Only he knows what he meant when he said that but this looks to be the most likely explanation of what he meant when he said reset.
dalredane
I guess the best thing to happen would be for Booth to get injured again so that he can be put on long-term injured reserve and have his $4.2 million US Tropy Bear Hunting fund not count against the cap. With that extra room, perhaps we can package a couple everyday players and bring in an actual sniper. Then we can buyout Booth in the offseason. Oh well, a guy can dream. JeremyCuddles
If only he took a new approach to the draft last season. Sure we got Horvat and Shink but could you imagine if we had that 2nd from that Roy trade. That was a deep draft, far deeper then this year. Merci
Wait you actually thought we'd be cup contenders this year Why Cuz MG promised Mind Blown If you actually were an NHL GM you'd know the 3 prospects we just drafted are about 4 times as good as Jensen, Schroeder, or Grabner. All soft Non Canadians. If you actually were an NHL GM you'd know Horvat is going to be twice the player Hodgson is. If you actually were an NHL GM you'd know this team has reset, and is waiting for the 2nd line youth to come up. Trading Edler or Kesler for a similiar player won't do crap for us. We need a 2nd line with skill, and Higgins and Hansen will never do that. Team did reset, we're building our 2nd line as we speak.
timberz21
Did you forget about someone called Cory Schneider? Trading him away for a 9th overall is kind of major. Reset doesn't mean bring all our 1st round pick in the lineup. Gaunce, Shinkaruk and Horvat got a good look at training camp, but ultimately i'm pretty sure Torts cut them and not Gillis. He was hoping on of them would stick, but he made the right decision by not forcing them into the lineup when they weren't ready.
Dogbyte
You got owned by the Gillis BS wheel. Subtle but effective, when he said reset most were led to believe that meant a different mentality and changes. However, reset actually means to go back to a previous configuration. As in we started last year as an average team missing forward scoring and a fourth line. Fast forwad to this year, push reset, and we're right back to where we started last year. Unfortunately, we fans sit here pouring money into the Nucks and getting zero back as MG, Aquilini, and the players rake in millions while they expect us to support them for two years until they can fix their mistakes. SergioMomesso
MG is a year late with the reset. He's still holding on to the hope of his top three forwards coming up big for him. The Sedins and Kesler can't dissapear for 3-4 game stretches at a time. The acquisition of David Booth has not worked out. Keith Ballard is a mistake he can't take back. The Schneider / Luongo fiasco was handled poorly all because of his 12 year deal he served to Luo on a silver platter. I'm blaming Gillis for the demise of our team. oldnews
Jensen, Schroeder, soft Non Canadians despite your efforts, you still earn a -1 for this imo.

Reset is a nice concept, application is the missing ingredient. This team has too many clones at the forward position, bit's and pieces, non script players taking up Cap room and ice time. Should MG be complimented with his signing Richardson and Santorelli....and eeeks Welsh and Dalpe .... desperation signings from the bargain basement at the Army & Navy. We need a difference maker not a 3rd/4th line checker. Time to move a Tanev , Hansen they don't have a NTC and they are worth some thing. As much as you like the guys and they give effort some times that's not we need....a team crying out for skill

Because he got an extra 1s rounder in a trade that may yet sink this team? I don't see anything new from Gillis, not a single thing.
Absent Canuck
He forgot to tell us what the 'process' is. This team cannot win the stanley cup. So what are we doing? Spinning around the ice hoping to be a first round blow out? A cinderella trying for one last hurrah? How about Gillis makes a decision to make us honest contenders or tank the team to rebuild. That is the smart choice. This league is about 2 things: 1) The conference finals or better 2) A top 5 draft pick. Everything else is nonsense. DooBie604
Trade for some good top six forwards without trading away any draft picks or young prospects. Also, don't trade away any of our quality players or we will complain about it afterwards when they do well somewhere else. C'mon GMMG, it's just that simple! A lot of people are asking for the far more reasonable 1 top 6 player, while keeping most of our prospects and core. Something like a tween/prospect/pick.
