[Injury] Burrows Out

Great 4.5 million dollar investment.

This is like crashing your BMW or your Lexus and then regretting that you spent money on buying your car after you crashed it.

Seriously, what a stupid comment. Would you also say the same thing if a Sedin got injured?

Haven't you heard? Our players aren't allowed to get injured.

Time for GMMG to find his big boy pants, take off whatever he has on now and put them on, and then go out and find a legitimate top 6 scoring forward. Even when Burrows returns we still have Higgins and one of Booth/Hansen in the top 6. These are great depth guys capable of playing on the 2nd for stints, but they're not the caliber of players you want to rely on to score in the playoffs.

How do you suggest we get a top 6 forward? Blackmail? Kidnapping? Booth won't net you a top 6 forward. Are you willing to give up our young (and cheap and reliable) defensive prospects? A first round pick? One of our promising forwards?

It's not NHL 14, where NTC's don't exist.

By the way did you folks notice where San Jose got Couture and Hertl?

In the draft. The best way to fix our forwards is scout properly.

For sure we are living the pain of trading away half of our picks the last 10 years. But it's not just scouting properly, the draft is a bit of a crap shoot. it's about sheer numbers and % of working out. Of course it helps if you know what you are doing.

but with the decimated prospect pool, we have no way of trading to get anyone of significance.

what would we do:

1. trade a prospect like bo or shin?

2. trade a young player who might be good schroeder or kassian?

3. get one of the existing players to give up their no trade: get Kesler to leave? Edler? Other teams would have interest in them.

4. trade your future draft picks ... again ... looks like this is the only think they can do...

... burrows injury is the nail in the coffin this season though... totally sucks.

Trading struggling players can only net you low potential youth or lower draft picks (or both) Teams that are willing to fire sale their top guys are not looking to replace them with similar players or worse. They are looking for a youth movement.

If Gillis goes shopping there are only two names (and our first round pick) that teams will be interested in. Those names are not Edler or Booth.
