[Injury] Burrows Out

Strombone1

Ooh, no good. Jaw surgery averages 6 weeks recovery.

I read somewhere recently that Gagné is training every day with Quebec Remparts waiting for an NHL team w/ a significant injury to call. But, I don't know, might be better first to use this as a chance to give one of the young guys a shot.

And is Weber still out of the Nashville line-up too?

Were either or both of these guys (Weber/Burrows) wearing visors? And - they still got these devastating facial injuries from pucks?! Will someone with the NHLPA start campaigning for full face cages next?

Hey, it could happen.

I really don't think MG will make any significant trades this season.

"It's a process"

Gagne woild actually be the next best option if there isn't a trade in the works.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Gagne - Kesler - Booth

Higgins - Santorelli - Hansen

Sestito - Richardson - Weise

Not terrible but not great either. It actually wouldn't look bad at all once Schroeder gets back (which will likely be before Burr if the rumours are true)

For anyone saying that we will have a hard time replacing his 0 goals, you gotta remember who we're talking about. This is the guy that slayed the dragon, Mr. Clutch himself. While he has had trouble actually putting one in the net (Maybe trouble is too soft a term) but the guy BRINGS it. He is out there wearing down the other team and that kind of enthusiasm has to rub off on the rest of the team. Gonna miss him for the time he's gone, hope he makes a speedy recovery!

Fully expected to read "Alex Burrows out of lineup, on rehabilitation stint in New York following snake bites"; broken jaw explains this team's lack of bite pretty well though. Maybe get Zack, Eddie and Jannik checked too? ;) (oh wait, Honey Badger ain't afraid of no snakes!)

Hope this isn't really the case! Burr always brings his A game, which is something we could use, even (as mentioned) when he's not scoring.

you dont have to bring up what he's done in the past to make an argument for what he does now

Jaw surgery would be a pretty pathetic way to miss a season.

The reason why you can't play hockey with a broken jaw is because it won't heal properly. A broken jaw might affect the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) if the height of the mandible was affected depending on how much it was displaced. Now, playing hockey can be stressful and the mental stress or anxiety can cause grinding of the teeth which would cause displacements in the jaw and put more pressure on the TMJ (assuming the height of the mandible was affected). The constant force of grinding would not allow the jaw bone to heal properly due to the force of tension and compression.

Aside from that factor, you also have to know that you also run the risk of getting punched in the face or have external impact to the jaw due to hits. This would definitely cause a setback in the healing process of the broken jaw or might even cause a bigger fracture which would make it worst.
