LA traded. b, schenn and simmonds just to acquire mike richards. That along with get Carter did what for the kings??? Oh ya they went on to win a stanley cup. So it can pay off to trade a young high valued prospect for immediate help. Look at the players age and the difference between the Canucks now and the Kings now. 1 young star is not going to help the canucks. We do not have a top D like Doughty (hate that guy) do not have a Carter Richards Quick, Brown (hate him more) The Kings were and are bigger and younger and as skilled or more than us in all areas right now. 1 player and a loss of Horvat won't change that. But since that isnt what MG is doing, he should be aggressively trying to improve now. why wait till july where you can hope to buyout booth, and maybe get a top 6 winger who will most likely get overpaid. Personally im tired of seeing us struggle to score. and if trading schneider leads us to mooving horvat inevitabely for say E.Kane Im sure ppl wont be upset. Looks to me this team has scored the least goals in January so far. We as fans have seen what kind of team it takes to make it to the cup. Lots of depth and the right players. That being said....Im sure if Horvat was on any other team besides Canucks...his value and marketing would be alot higher that it is. Still need a puck moving D man and a top 6 playmaking center if Schroeder doesn't work out for us, but yes we'd be a threat again. But in this climate, with Buffalo and Anaheim setting the price as high as they did for Vanek and Ryan....I am hesitant to pay anyones rental price for the minimal depth we have if it isn't for a player as young skilled and under a contract as nice as E.
