[Report] Kesler is still a Canuck

Derp...

You can see it and hear it too, he doesn't look like he is talking out of his butt when he says those things. And it's more legit as a DAD to want your kids to grow up where they are born. It's legit when he says he loves playing here. It's legit when the whole team celebrates on twitter when he isn't traded. Kesler doesn't WANT a trade, he would welcome one close to home, but would prefer to stay here for the time being. IF he says he wants to be here, they why is our fan base upset he wasn't moved? I had a heart attack when I read that fake tweet he was traded.

Exactly.

The day this team trade away a heart and soul guy who does not want to be traded, the day I would consider cheering for another team.

The Oilers traded Ryan Smith. Look what happened to them. Total destruction.

A lot of reporters are spreading false rumours only because they want Kesler traded.

Just heard the interview from Kesler after he found out that he wasn't traded. It's obvious that he wanted out. And the jab to management. He learns quickly from Luo, make a jab and you'll be gone real soon. And rumours were that he didn't want to go to a Canadian team, so no Toronto.

Less and less respect for Kes. See ya ...

the problem is we are a team still only 1 point out of the playoffs .. and we have a guy acting like this ? this sucks for team morale in the biggest way

Oh you people gotta' LIGHTEN up! Get a hobby..fandangle a library card..try your hand at poetry or bonsai-gardening...

Or, go shopping! A wonderful pres once said it's good for the economy!

Basically, we're a few hundred addicts that sit around ruminating/plotting on how we 'beat the system', & make a LV trip profitable. This league SHOULD be HQ'd in rigged-deck, Vegas..Bellagio, or some such dump.

Accept that smaller Cdn markets are 2nd-class citizens in this dirty pyramid-scheme.

Watched a bit of the TSN coverage(after midnite in Japan), first time in yrs. Media are inveterate liars, & two-faced, puppet-whores, with no shame. Major US franchises are more entitled than frat boys at ski-lodges, partyin with Daddy-funding...Meanwhile, the Ott's, Edm's & Cowtowns are like the poor kids, banished to min-wage slavery on wknds, to keep their dwindling dreams alive.

I remember back in the '70s & '80s, when Cdn teams could play too...

I'm thinking that draft day might see some real interest in Kesler. At this point, our centre position going into 2014-2015 looks like this:

H. Sedin

Kesler

Matthias

Richardson

Lain

Schroeder (RFA)

Dalpe (RFA)

Gaunce (potentially)

Horvat (potentially)

Santorelli (UFA)

Cassels (potentially)

Seems a tad crowded at the centre position, especially with the recent addition of Matthias. Might have to gamble that Horvat is ready for #2 centre and find a trade partner for Kesler at the draft.

Matthias can also play wing

Schroeder wont be kept

Kesler can play RW comfortably

Santo can play RW comfortably

Horvat can play LW

Gaunce can play LW

Richardson can play LW

Lain can play LW

Matthias unknown

so its not like they have to play center and when you look at the Sharks they have a lot of natural centers playing wing...matches faceoffs per strongsides as well as if get waived out...tbh I like this depth gives us many options for matchups like when need scoring can put Kes with the twins while still have plenty of options for the 2nd line...also allows us to have Kesler/Horvat shutdown lines on 2/3 for teams like Pittsburgh who have 2 lines then nothing

No one knows what Kes actually wants. Media likes to create madness from nothing. By the way Bieksa and Lack were tweeting, It sounded as if Kes might have wanted to stay.

Would you rather believe what Kesler says? Or what TSN says? C'mon.

We better not have another drama on our hands, like Luongo. No more sulky baba's please.

Why trade Diaz that could have waited until the draft

Check your facts - the draft is literally a few days before free agency. Diaz will be a UFA. The value of his rights would be literally nothing.

dude your just delusional or really young. I get you try to be this positive guy for the team but you just sound foolish. I said it last year we are going down the path of the Flames and that is exactly where we are going. Only gotten worse since 2011, clearly.

This is quite easily exposed as one of the dumbest analogies ever posted on these boards.

The Flames had literally nothing in their system in 2009 when they last made the playoffs - they had absolutely nothing but Backlund under the age of 25 in their entire system - and yet took another 4 years before they moved only a couple of assets for futures. They waited so long that Kipper retired before they could even rent him.

The difference in the contexts is laughable.

Armstrong, John

Aulie, Keith

Armstrong, Riley

Backlund, Mikael

Baldwin, Gord

Bennett, Spencer

Brodie, T.J.

Bouma, Lance

Chucko, Kris

Carpentier, Hugo

Cunning, Cam

Cole, Brad

Grantham, Ryley

Germyn, Carsen

Lundmark, Jamie

Greentree, Kyle

Negrin, John

Howse, Ryan

Nemisz, Greg

Jaffray, Jason

Patterson, Gaelen

Meyers, Josh

Pelech, Matt

Murray, Garth

Seabrook, Keith

Palin, Brett

Sutter, Brett

Stralman, Anton

Wahl, Mitch

Van der Gulik, David

Watt, J.D.

Irving, Leland

Keetley, Matt

Shantz, David

Spence, Daniel

That is bleak. And again, literally, the only talent on their roster under 25 aside from this prospect pool (Backlund and Brodie) was Phaneuf - who was dealt. Backlund has yet to have a 30 point season in his career.

There is no comparision whatsoever. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Tanev, Stanton, Kassian, Schroeder, Markstrom, Archibald, and Dalpe on the roster.

In the prospect pool - Jensen, Gaunce, Horvat, Shinkaruk, Corrado, Hutton, Cassells, Lain, Blain, Grenier, Tommernes, McNally

The Flames had a couple NHL talents under 25.

This year has been a buyer's market. Weird.

Remember how we traded 2 2nd's for Roy?

This year, Vanek fetched not much better. Meszaros should've been better than a 3rd.

So maybe we weren't getting good deals for Kesler.

Yes - it was a cap crunch season where many teams had to subtract to get under the cap - and contenders don't have a great deal of cap space in which to add/be buyers. It's not a great sellers context - but don't expect too many people to bother with contexts.

The goaltender sellers market was downright grim - but Gillis pulled off a hell of a deal regardless. I'm very pleased. I would much rather have pulled off a Luongo deal than a Kesler deal. Kesler is an easy sell and and easy keep. No losing there.

Saying it's going to be the same situation as Luongo is kinda BS. Luongo at the time was getting outplayed by Schneider. Kesler has been the main component of this team this year. We have removed a decent amount of cap space with Luongo going. Buy out Booth in the summer. Lots of cap space.

This team didn't become sh-- overnight. Look at the facts

1) a crippling injury list has contributed to the horrendous run of results, Henrik injured, Burrows injured, Santo injured, Daniel injured, Tanev injured, Stanton injured, plus a few more i could add. All these for good periods of the season.

2) We could have Horvat up with the bigs next year, possibly Jensen as well. Somewhere along the line we have to give young guys the chance. Next year they will have theirs.

Torts will need to spread the minutes out a little bit better than this season, utilise the Sedins in their best environment. Offensive zones.

Some of you need to take a step back and calm your emotions.

For all we know this team could have another December. People are fickle. Throwing Kesler away for mediocre value would have been about the dumbest thing this franchise could do.

The 1st we gave to FL for Ballard... Our pool would be much stronger if we had kept those picks.

Completely false. The 1st dealt for Ballard was in large part because the Canucks wanted Tinordi - who was no longer available. That first is in fact now Quinton Howden, He has 10 goals in 54 games in the AHL - to put that in perspective, that's what Archibald has in 44. He's yet to score a point in the NHL - and is a .5ppg player in the A. Howden is a B prospect at best. The Canucks have a handful of younger, much better forward prospects.

This team is 2 points away from a playoff spot.

You trade Luongo, thats fine cause you got Lack who seems like he can play the number 1 role.

But if you trade Kesler, you're telling everyone that this is a rebuild stage, and to forget about the playoffs.

See ya ...

Why would Kesler wanna stay with a team that's shopping him anyways?

Did you watch the Phoenix game?

This team isn't playing like they are fighting for a playoff spot. I have seen players play harder in the preseason.

Seems to me the team has already pressed the eject button and it's nothing more than non-competitive ice dancing at this point.

What? What the hell, where do you come up with all this? Are you a mind reader? All he said was that he doesn't pay attention to all this trade talk.

Seriously, CDC is so notorious for making claims that have no evidence to back them up.

Gillis was never shopping Kesler around, he was just getting offers for him because other teams know that we may be open to re-building. It only seemed like we were shopping him around because we had gotten some serious offers from Philly and Pitts. It's not like Gillis was asking for them, you can't prevent a GM from making you an offer.

Dude where have you been the last month? We're rebuilding. No ifs ands or buts
