Madness
Frank Seravalli @DNFlyers 2m #Flyers have called a press conference for 11:30am to promote Ron Hextall to GM and Paul Holmgren to president. https://twitter.com/DNFlyers/status/464029873976385536 Knew it would eventually happen when Hextall was brought in. Good move by Philly.

timberz21
Pretty much seals the deal for Benning. Unless, Linden pulls a McPhee and actually hire McPhee. It probably was already decided when they brought back Hextall, but at the same time, were they worried to lose him to the Nucks? That is why I figured Hextall would be 'hurried' into the position, rather than risk him moving on .. I believe he will do well .. would not be surprised to see the Flyers get more physical. MJDDawg
Good move for the Flyers. Hextall has paid his dues and was involved first hand in building the Kings.

Ghostsof1915
Pre-emptive strike by the Flyers? We can also choose Pat Verbeek, or Julien BriseBois from Tampa.
Baka
Based on his press conference I would guess the Flyers interest in Kesler has declined significantly with Hextall as GM.
From.The.Point
So....Jim Benning it is? I'm assuming he wouldnt take over til AFTER the draft, considering he would know which direction the Bruins are going in the draft.
Rush17
DIdn't Holmgren recently say. He deserves a GM role but I am not willing to swap chairs. Interesting wonder if he was forced out.

Standing_Tall#37
I'd even take Gilman over McPhee..I'd even take Gilman over McPhee.. I'd take Tim Burke and tell him "our main goal is to beat Calgary" see if we can piss off his old man
awalk
I'd take Tim Burke and tell him "our main goal is to beat Calgary" see if we can piss off his old man I don't think he is Brian Burke's son, considering they were both born the same year...would be quite a feat even for Brian Burke to pull that off. BabychStache
The best part of this promotion was the jab he took at Edmonton in the press conference.
