Warhippy
It's the isles without question. Look at their track record since 2000. Then their signings, buyouts etc. Sure people will point to Edmonton but they were competitive once over the last 14 years.\
AFrame14
Not sure about the jets ownership cuz I think it is pretty good, but thier gm is useless. Doesn't even attempt to make a trade to better his team. To scared to do anything other than draft the best available player. Why not trade buff, Ladd, or Kane and see if u can make the jets better. Phil_314
Coyotes They got Gagner AND Crombeen for a 6th... I'd say that's not too bad. Sure they let Vrbata go, but they probably weren't able to offer the same salary level as the Canucks given their financial situation, so I'd give them a break. Philly is terrible with their money management. Bryzgalov, Lecavalier, trading Hartnell for Umberger? Sure they did do well with getting Simmonds and Voracek for RIchards and Carter, but they're in a financial bind even now, with no cap space to sign more skilled forwards and instead having Rosehill as one of their 12 signed guys up front. Jersey might also be in trouble given their Flames-like patchwork group up front and barren prospect cupboard. Once the older group of forwards leaves they might have difficulty signing anyone good, and although they do have Zajac, Henrique and Schneider to build around there's not much else. Lastly, I think Pittsburgh could've asked for a physical D-man on the Neal deal, since they don't really have much in terms of physicality in their Top 4 (Ehrhoff, Letang, Maatta, Martin). Also wonder how much of a drop-off there will be in terms of scoring, since Jokinen and Neal were essentially replaced by Hornqvist and Steve Downie. G.K. Chesterton
Another poster a few weeks ago remarked that despite his bad trades and player acquisition, Garth Snow actually does a fairly good job when it comes to contracts. The highest paid player is Tavares at only $5.5 million a season until 2017-18. Grabovski is the only other player who makes $5 million and everyone else makes less. Down by the River
Long-term definitely the Islanders. They've had two decades of futility. Oilers have just had a spurt of incompetence. They used to be pretty good at getting by with very little. Now they have a lot (prospects/picks) but get little out of the team.

Other than that, the fact that they have guys with low contracts is because (1) owners don't want to spend and (2) the players who could justify earning a larger salary don't want to go there. oldnews
The Leafs. Calgary a close second, although Edmonton has probably succeeded them. Perhaps the new faces can turn that around.
Snake Doctor
I thought the Islanders were getting out of that stigma until the Vanek trade. So sorry Garth, but yours is the bottom of the NHL.

JeremyCuddles
NYI, Toronto, Edmonton and Winnipeg. Winnipeg isn't as noticeable because instead of making mistakes they do nothing. Islanders because we all know they are destined to suck for ever. Edmonton cause they refuse to bring in vets Toronto because they are regular season chokers. Play good for the first two months then crap the bed.

CanuckFanForever1123
After the trade for Vanek, hard to go against the Islanders... They gave up Moulson, at times a very very good 2nd line forward, a 1st round pick, and 2nd round pick, for a guy with an expiring deal who they knew would be tough to re-sign, in a year where they also knew they were not going to be very competitive. Then, after realizing how bad they failed, they send Vanek to Montreal for a conditional 2nd round and Sebastian Collberg...That is as bad as it gets right there. Caboose
My own Toronto Maple Leafs since Dave Nonis took over. Burke had arguably the best 2nd line in the NHL. Now Kuley, Clarke, and Grabo are gone and with them any semblance of defensive responsibility. How do you buy out a player as good as Grabovski At least Nonis has drafted well.
