coryberg
The trade was Coho and Sulzer for Kassian and Gragnani. Do your homework once in awhile. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=73269 1 for 1 deal. You might want to study up.

CanucksSayEh
Garrison was probably our best defenseman his first year here. He had a hot start last season, then turned to meh. Was reported to be nursing some injuries though...
Jack Fig
The Canucks should retire #5 out of sheer lethargicness, insuring that nobody can come and add to the lethargic legend. Sbisa's new number can be "-5".

Sergei Shirokov
Seemed liked a lot of people weren't too concerned about us trading Garrison but I thought he was a pretty solid player for us. Maybe not worth 4.6 million a year, but he could of really used the depth.
Absent Canuck
Anyone who thinks a number is 'cursed' like there is some omnipotent force controlling those who wear it are insane. Hands down.
Robongo
Garrison wasn't bad he was awful. This. Aside from the lockout shortened year when he was playing with Hamhuis and the first month and a half of last season, the guy was brutal
brownky
Dana Plug Murzyn always comes to mind Dana Murzyn was anything other than a plug. Yes, his skating speed was equivalent to a two year old with one of those pushable iron things at a public skate. But he was tough, mean, and strong. He cleared the crease on the in close attempts. We're whining now about people not clearing the crease, forgetting how to do it. Dana never forgot. It's about measuring expectations and strengths. He was smart and nasty in front of our crease and let Captain K (and Mike Vernon in Calgary) do better things. If we'd had him in the finals it would have been a lot better. Messier would have required a new leg after the cheap shot on Linden.

People also forget (or never knew to begin with) the role Murzyn played in the 1st round against Calgary in 1994, Roberts running McLean and then Murzyn running Roberts over and over again until Murzyn was injured and out and Roberts was so mangled, he missed most of the next couple seasons. ChuckNORRIS4Cup
^^ Dana was one of the slowest skaters I think I have ever seen in the NHL, not saying he wasn't a strong defenceman, but he was a plug you could skate circles around him. Excellent points , and yes the game has changed but somethings remain the same.....clearing the front of the net is an art form and Murzyn in this regard was a Van Gogh or a Botticelli. The man had no fear and thrust his body into danger without a though for his own safety. A true gladiator !
Nino
So, Sbisa's abysmal play so far has to ask a question, is the number 5 cursed? Last players to wear the number: Bryan Allen: Very solid defensive defenseman, not really worth being taken 4th overall in his draft year. (though 98 was a fairly weak draft.) Otherwise good player. Lukas Kraijcek: Came back in the Lu trade... Not exactly a stud defenseman... Or anything close.... Ossi Vaananen: Haha who remembers him? Played like, 4 games? Cristian Ehrhoff: Probably the best D to wear the number. Quarter backed our PP to first in the league. Bolts after 2 seasons. Marc-Andre Gragnani: Like Vaananen, who remembers him? Came back in the Coho/Kass deal. So bad that he didn't get a QO at the end of the season. Jason Garrison: Brought in to be our new Salo. Really was not spectacular, and our PP was abysmal with him on it. Nobody was sad to see him go really. Luca Sbisa: Only a handful of games played, looked abysmal in both the preseason and the regular season so far. We'll see how he progresses. The number 5 seems to be cursed with bad players or luck.... Ehrhoff wore the number proudly, but ditched us for cash and a "Stanley Cup" in Buffalo. Really, we haven't had a reliable number 5 Since Bryan Allen. The moment that dana murzyn put on number 5 it forever became a cursed number, there's really no hope it should be burned and the number be retired to save others from the curse of dana murzyn!!!! That's exactly it. And when the Rangers were doing the same thing, it would have been helpful to have an individual out there who could remind them that perhaps it's not in the best interest of their health to keep doing it. So I won't hear of it when people say Murzyn was a plug. I still feel that we lost that because he wasn't out there backing up Lumme.
