When Backlund said his flames will win in game 6 and no way we are going to lose at home they did just that, when Hartley said after the game 2 (against the ducks)that no worries we will win the next game at home they did that... there is something to be said for a team calling out there wins and following through with it... there is something called putting a seed of doubt into the other team especially come play off time...was quick really good for the kings or is just put the doubt in other teams when they won the cup and they rode the momentum...when have the Canucks done it and worked! have the canucks ever put a real scare into the other team? This is what i wish Benning and linden would pick up on.. as they get younger and more aggressive they need to create a winning atmosphere so they can put a scare into opponents in the playoffs! go Canucks go!

That's exactly what they are working towards, what team did you watch this year?

a team that still is missing the theory part of my whole topic... it has improved and yes its going in the right direction, but at what point did you ever here the canucks clainming that we are going to win and follow through...(following thru being the most important part of my discussion). you need to ride the momentum and not let the other team steal it away from you like what happened in game 6.... that game was a classic choke game just like the leafs against the bruins in game 7 a couple of years ago...

You were told that the plan was to shoot for the playoffs to show the players and fans what to expect from this franchise. You're just feeling sorry as a fan because Benning's vision has very little instant gratification.

And we all learned exactly what to expect from this franchise when letting actions speak instead of words.

We are talking about confidence here, it's not rocket science. The Canucks are easily scared and don't believe in themselves and it was pretty obvious in a lot of ways not least of which was WD saying ;hopefully things go our way' or guys in the locker room saying 'whatever happens happens' in a playoff pre-game while Bob Hartley was building the great wall around his players and building their confidence up, and their guys were talking about winning the series, finishing their opponents. Success during the regular season really does not mean much. It's a ticket to take the ride. What you do on the ride is what counts.

All the other playoff teams know this which is why it's not unusual to see them all become like different teams playing on other levels. That's why we see teams pulling off comebacks, because it's supposed to reflect their willpower. When you lack the confidence you lack the willpower to make bold claims, and you will inevitably lack the ability to make any.

Talking smack about other players does not count IE Bieksa's mouthoffs toward the guy doing all of the above. Guys with confidence talk about their own game, not the game of the guy that just showed you the door.

not so... what i hope for is the canucks to start showing their worth in the playoffs when it matters the most... something seriously wrong with the confidence of the team ever since the 2011 cup run!. Even then the confidence for the team has never really been there... its my point that that has to change more than anything... their mental Psyche.. The absolute closes scenario to what i am talking about is the 94 cup run... they had bure and brown... kirk, and linden. That run they had a game changer and power play specialist, someone who can make the clean passes out of the zone...and most importantly they had a team that really really believed in themselves...you don't have the pieces like that the confidence is hard to come by because you need the skill...I am really happy with what benning and linden have done so far... i just want them to improve the mental part of the game for the canucks...

I love how people think they could manage a team better then Benning & co. Yet they continue working 9-5 at save on foods.

I guess you say things like this when you cannot contribute an intelligent reponse to the subject at hand.I guess there can only be one GM and everybody elses ideas/opinions do not matter even the Fans of that team.

I don't know how else you can explain a team that can play a beautiful game from beginning to end and then the next game just stink out the place. This has been happening for years and years. Especially the Nazzy years and the Sedin years. This team is easily intimidated and has no push back most of the time. This needs to change if this team is to be successful. If you can't see that then I guess no one will be able to explain it to you and you will continue to make pointless reponses as the one above.

Yes, I'm sure the Ducks are shaking about the last game.

Getzlaf and Perry aren't even trying and they've dominated the series so far. As cup and gold-medal winners, they aren't exactly primed to fall just because of one ill-timed soft goal.

As much as CBC likes to hold up Johnny Hockey and a superstar and 18yr old Bennett as a future hall-of-famer, Calgary is still a crap team that doesn't belong in the playoffs imho.

That being said, the Canucks LOST to that team! WTF!!!

What a stupid comment. Only idiot fans blindly root for their team. It's sports. This is what diehards do. We criticise the the team when they fail. Any sport, any team.

The problem is here they didnt fail idiot. They improved over last season bringing young talent into the system and a stable management team which made a steady stable team. winning will come if you have the patients to let JB and TL build a winner. If you dont have confidence in them then FO.
