[Trade] Boyd Gordon to ARI

Recommended Posts

Not necessarily true.

There is an interview process in the week before July 1st.

How do you think deals get done with the first few hours of frenzy day.

You're right - as of the 25th they can talk to other clubs - was thinking teams needed permission to approach players whose rights are held until July 1st.

Yeah, curios deal for Edmonton for sure.

Chirelli is sure attempting to make this HIS team in a hurry.

I really like Boyd Gordon as a 4th line C. Not enough offensive upside for me at 3 C, but great on the draw, in his zone, good veteran presence. He's Malhotra lite.

Who needs a depth centre that can win 56% of his faceoffs, handle the hard minutes, and still produce some respectable offense with only 22% offensive zone starts.

Evidently not Edmonton lol.

You do strange things Edmonton.

Role players begone!

So true

I predict:

Eberle + +

for

Plekanec, Emelin, +

Yakupov moves up in Eberles absence, and Korpikoski provides some winger depth. Pleks would be a revelation for the Oilers and Emelin gives them some meat on the back end.

Mtl gets a scoring winger.

boom.

Well they would not have been able to speak with anyone yet, and there are very few of those quality centers available, with a lot of teams looking.

Who knows - we'll see, but counting on something like that can come back to bite you. I'd rather have one sign and then cut the deal with the risk of having two quality depth centers - ie not a risk at all. Gordon is also a right handed draw - something that is a nice option to have in your bottom six. Perhaps they're also pursuing Santo. My hope is that the Canucks take Richie off the market now that they have Juice's cap to work with (and possibly Santo)...

They've been able to speak to pending UFAs since the day before the draft. They can't talk contract, but they can discuss interest and potential roles.

Aaaaand I see that's already been covered...

Katz finally got his Gretzky II, now they can go full-on 80s retro.
