With as many injuries as the Canucks have, there isn't much Benning can do.

Not be paying Prust, higgins and Dorsett 7.5 million bucks and instead having players that are more effective for the money?

I could only give you one plus

Benning the second coming of captain coat tails Dave Nonis. He's got plug love tattoo on his knuckles.

(1) Prust wasn't Benning's signing, and considering Kassian's problems, Benning got good value

(2) Benning didn't sign Higgins to a four year deal

(3) Dorsett is being paid for what he does in practice and off the ice... he's the type of player the Oilers never had when they kept getting all those high draft picks.

Prust was signed in the off season before any of the younger players got a good look. In anyone's defence.

Dorsett must teach the young kids to be bigger grinders. Like how he has mentored Virtanen so well. The kid looks like a weaker version of Dorsett.

Funny how Kesler had commented that Bieksa will likely get a better reception on returning here than he did, seemed surprised at the boo's he gets

um Kes, the fans know while you asked for a trade to 'one' team handcuffing any dealing the Canucks could do, Bieksa wanted to stay and help the team

1. Higgins was inherited, Benning didn't give him the contract and at the time it was fair. Now well he's just not very effective and the only hope is he is moved at the deadline as a guy who can provide a team with 'veteran help'. The only way we can move him is if he plays.

2. Dorsett plays his role fine. He also brings a great deal of leadership to the team and Bo has mentioned that Dorsett has made a significant impression on him because of his work ethic. The Canucks say he is the hardest working player day in day out on the team (in practice and games). When you are a team in transition you need players like that to teach young players who have starred in junior how hard they have to work at this level - that is why he was signed. It was a smart decision. We can all nitpick $ but the reality is you need players like him.

3. You're really going to argue the Prust deal after seeing what's gone on with Kassian? It was addition by subtraction and he provides toughness when and if we need it

4. Just having more money available doesn't mean you'd sign players - most of the good ones have contracts buddy ;)

1) Prust was Benning's trade. He traded a draft pick too. He traded a pick and a troubled asset for a big salary.

2) True, but given how he's been dishing people with NTC's you'd think he'd try to move this turkey.

3) We're on pace for a high draft pick. Doesn't look like it's helping much.

4) Miller for 3 years, for 6? Really?
