TheRussianRocket.
Pasha ...15 years in hockeytown, he did everything you could ask from a player on-off the ice and more. Incredible presence in the community with all the camps he did and the numerous charities he teamed up with. The Red Wings just quite won't be the same without Datsyuk. Will definitely be weird seeing a Wings team without #13 out there. Thanks for everything, Pasha! Absolute legend. Can't wait to see him back when his number will be raised and retired! Kurt Nirvanagut
Highly regarded around the hockey world and yet still felt underappreciated. Great career and beautiful scouting by Detroit in the late 90s with Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Smdh. No surprise Datsyuk's going home. Family comes first and he never took the bonus. Class act time and time again.
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Im a tad confused, many of the hockey experts are saying if Detroit trades Pavel's contract to a team, the team can terminate his contract only absorbing the caphit rather than salary. Does it mean they pay the 7.5 mil for him or just the 5.5 that he has left on his final year of the deal?
PlanB
1. You know who got scooped again on posting this! 2. Feel very privileged to have watched his career from day 1 in the NHL. He truly brought a new level to the league.

saucypass
For me, he was the most exciting player since Bure. Thank you for all those years and have a great retirement!

To my understanding, new team does not have to pay him the actual $5.5m, just absorb the $7.5m salary cap, so looking for a team that has room and wanting to meet cap floor. Then when the time comes, sign Datsyuk to a one day contract and he retires as a Red Wing.
Guest
Good. Last season there were times he began to look his age, and I always prefer these legends to retire at the top. No-one wants to see a 30pt Datsyuk.

Harvey Spector
Pavel Bure is still my favourite Pavel. But this guy is a close second. Thanks for all the memories Pavel Datsyuk..
Alflives
Anyone who says Euros don't play tough, just watch this guy play. One of the hardest on the puck, and off the puck players I have ever seen.
Neversummer
Euro not exactly same as Russian. I know we NA grouped them together but don't think the Ruskies see themselves as Euros. Just sayin.
