[Speculation] Canucks considering moving back from 5th

Harsh lol

I really want Dubois, so if another team makes an offer for the 5th, I hope Benning demands the moon, otherwise keep the 5th. Dubois is going to be a big time player for many years, we need him. But, in Canucks fashion, I can see EDM trade their 4th so another team drafts Dubois. Then it'll get really interesting.

Well let's be honest here.

Drafting a 6 foot 7 cream puff that refuses to work the corners because he's a center instead of drafting a guy who literally got better every single game he played this year while also a center based on size alone and the league they play in is crazy

Taking Eller another redundant 2 way bottom 6 pivot

And a 2nd

To give MTL what they desire is absolutely crazy

Slapped and fired on the spot, forced to be the scout for the Vegas Bett-Mans

Our 5th for ARZ 7th and 20th overall pick IMO is a trade that would work for both sides IF Dubois is gone. That would mean ARZ would get their hometown kid Tkachuk who is just the player ARZ needs and we can go ahead and draft a defenseman (Juolevi or Sergachev) or a forward (Keller, Jost, etc) and then draft maybe another possible d-man like Bean or Fabbro, or pick a skilled forward with the 20th pick. Maybe we could ask for assets too.

If Dubois is gone, then whoever we pick at 7th plus whoever we pick at 20th is > Matthew Tkachuk IMO. However if Dubois is there, IMO, Dubois > 7th overall/20th overall.

Just don't pick Brown.

Side bonus -- Calgary does not get PDL or Tkachuk.

It is quite interesting about Tkachuk though.  Benning has said all year he's the best prospect from the top of the circle down, yet indications are that they don't see him in their top-5.  Perhaps it's his skating, or something else projected they don't like?  He's not just a scorer but makes great plays as well.

Could be situational as well. Doesn't like how he'd fit with the way our team is shaping up. That plus the skating perhaps is enough to drop him a couple spots? Just spit-balling...

tweet is real, we don't really know what the Canucks intend on doing other than the common thought that the team wants Dubois.

Jim Benning said he won't be trading down. Just some guy trying to become irrelevant who made this.

Could see JB trading down to grab Brown. He looks like he could turn out to be a Jim Sandlak type which is what the team is after (meat & taters)...

Weather that is worth the pick in the top 10 (or any pick in the first round for that matter) is another story.

You've obviously never watched Brown play with that assessment

He is  a Shawn Matthias with less grit.  He is about as meat and potatoes as Yoga and Quinoa

A 2nd pick OR another asset?  No, no, no.

It would need to be a 2nd rounder AND a top 6 asset

Yeah I don't agree with the '2nd rounder' part. A 2nd first rounder or other asset (player/prospect)....well then we have something to discuss.

In the article directly preceding this one on their site:

Quote

Jim Benning: "We think 4, 5, & 6 are all in the same tier. We have a defenseman in the top 6 & we think he's clearly the best defenseman."

That rather contradicts the contention that they'd be "as happy" with Sergachev if Juolevi is their man.  Not to mention that moving down past 6 is taking a more definitive drop in quality.  Unless JB has his poker face on, it seems the analysis is a bit lacking.

No logan brown please.  If he does trade down, Juolevior Sergachev.   Then with the 20th Gauthier if available, dude is a freight train

While I know this is a typo, Juolevior Sergachev sounds like an amazing defenseman.
