Other than Vlardi the other center options weren't bruisers either. I wanted Hague at 33 but Lind looks like a solid pick. The only takeaway I have is that JB must believe or have indications that Trymakin is returning eventually. Why else pass over a big mean highly ranked defender like Hague? Hope this is the case. Popular Post appleboy
The teams weakness is scoring. The draft focused on players who can put the puck in the net. You can find the toughness via trades or ufa signings. It will be interesting to see if they sign a D man to replace Sbisa.

You don't play, and put up big points in the OHL, being a softy. YCF you need to define what a tough player is. Guys like Pettersson, who handle the puck a lot, need to have a certain level of toughness, don't you think? They are the ones with targets on their backs, no?
Pears
I think we could see something like this in a few years Sedin - Sedin - Boeser Dahlen - Horvat - Pettersson Gadjovich - Sutter - Virtanen Gaunce - Granlund - MacEwen Juolevi - Tanev _____ - Gudbranson Pedan - Stecher Demko Markstrom Unless we tank next year again and end up with Dahlin/Hughes/Merkley how good of a defenseman could a package of Baertschi+Hutton get? The 6x6 isn't going to work when they are clearly way better than RNH, Eberle and Hall. Cap is going to become a big issue in Edmonton. Serves them right for wasting so many 1OA picks. Maybe they get him to sign a bridge deal, but sooner or later they will have to fork out the big bucks. League max is now set at 15m, so anywhere south of that is what he can get. Then they have to sign Drais this year, who is rumoured to be getting 8.5m. Hopefully Strome has a good year and demands 4-5m, also Slepy, Cags, Nurse, Benning, rfa goalies, etc. Oh, and then the following year is time to re-sign Talbot. Lots of juggling for the Coiler. PuckYa
1st it's take Virtanen (Size over skill). Then it's why didn't we take Nylander or Ehlers. Now it's take Glass. Why did we take Petterson (Skill over size). Petterson - 165 lbs. Ehlers - 163 lbs. Nylander - 169 lbs. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=266336 ELIAS PETTERSON BIRTHYEAR 1998-11-12 BIRTHPLACE Sundsvall, SWE AGE 18 NATION Sweden POSITION C/LW SHOOTS L HEIGHT 188 cm / 6'2" WEIGHT 75 kg / 165 lbs YOUTH TEAM Ånge IK CONTRACT 19/20 NHL DRAFT 2017 round 1 #5 overall by Vancouver Canucks RANKINGS Ranked #5 by Hockeyprospect.com Ranked #20 by ISS Hockey Ranked #8 by Future Considerations Ranked #11 by McKeen's Hockey Ranked #2 by NHL Central Scouting (EU Skaters) Ranked #7 by TSN/McKenzie SOCIAL HIGHLIGHTS 1 A crafty and agile two-way forward, Pettersson is consistently productive in all three zones. As he gets stronger, he'll become even more physical and aggressive than he is now, and his creativity could definitely elevate his game to dominant levels. He can be described as a tenacious, jack-of-all-trades kind of player; he is well versed in all the important aspects of his own game. His speed and top-end acceleration continue to improve game by game, and his hard-nosedness shows through in his dogged pursuit of puck control. Elias Pettersson is a complete hockey player with exceptional hockey sense who brings intellect and youthful exuberance to a game that feeds on his kind of exciting athleticism. Petterson at 6'2" and 165 lbs is more of a bean pole than Ehlers or Nylander. Gaining weight is not easy for everyone, just google "hard gainer". I understand from Benning's interview that the Canuck trainers feel he can (eventually) put on 15-20 lbs, however.

A resolve to succeed no matter what. The twins are tough but they should have been surrounded with a club that could take care of that kind of business. The oilers are surrounding McDavid. The twins are only around 185 pounds and have survived for a long time in this league. I can see Benning bringing in a few players to care for the nasty business.
