OMG....the Avs got Makar??!?! Hilarious!

Sakic and Benning......what a pair!

Why is that funny?  Makar is 3-5 years out and will possibly be the best offensive D this draft produces.  He's exactly what the Avs needed

This guy was a 10-15 pick

Why did we spend #5 on him??

Is every single scouting service who has proved Bening wrong in the past with his flight of fancy first rounders, wrong .......yet again??

THIS time Bening knew better than they did?

We may have gotten a good player, but we didn't get the BEST PLAYER POSSIBLE, and this guy is reallly really skinny......another, "Oh, wait till he...." pick?

Why can't we pick the guys EVERYONE says are better, and physically prepared to play in the league that THIS team plays in.

Benning is not a smart man, I've watched it for years now, he should be filling scouting reports from remote arenas for a real GM to read,

This guy cannot do the simplest things right, and I'm sooooo sick of it

Petterson may be good, just like Joulevi might be good....but they aren't the BEST AVAILLABLE, I feel like Benning wants to make these of the board picks to "Get his scout on" not to stock this team with the best players possible.

A general manager should not say while looking into a camera "We don't got no defensemen" An executive who can't even structure a sentence can't be expected to make sound decisions, being an assistant GM doesn't mean all that much, many GM's keep thier "Road dogs" around, to help them deal with the job (Nonis)  it does not mean they are qualified GM's

Benning is in way over his head, has been for years, and I don't understand why Trev (Who does not lack intelligence) supports it.

Again, might well be a good player, but wasn't our best shot at success.....what else is there to say, that hasn't already been said,

This has been such a weird 4 years......like a mixture of Keenan and Nonis.......I don't know, whatever.....It's not my team, maybe Aqua needs to lose money through the team to qualify for other tax shelters......whatever......it's so lame now, it's not even worth being ruffled over.

Skeletor  is that you?

You don't pick some guy with #5 because some other guy who may never even make the league is on the same team as him.....you don't say "Hmm, this guy is better, but these two have played together.....yeah, let's draft him" That is the thought process of an idiot.

A skilled pro, will make things work, he doesn't need his Jr. Hockey line-mates there to hold his hand.

If this was his reasoning, our GM is not a smart man.

So you deny the existence of chemistry? Some players just play better with certain players and become linemates for years. It's not a difficult concept. Chemistry between linemates is a real thing.

Just let him spill his heart out, he'll run out of energy soon and we can tuck him in for a nice nap.

I honestly don't mind Petterson but he's not a physical guy at all. We need some size on this team. We are gonna get walked all over.

True - but he likely doesn't make the team for 3 years. Obviously the composition of the team will be vastly different then. Bo has surpassed expectaions to this point and Jake has underwhelmed. This is true of all our prospects that many rush to list as first liners.

Let's face it we will suck for 3-5 years or more. Let's not rush to judge individual prospects. Brock looks like he could be a Kesler or a Hodgson - we just don't know yet.

terrible.dee throwing a tantrum is a top 5 reason to visit this thread right now and that's not up for debate.

Ummm....ok......is that "Benning-eese" or something?

Because in English that post doesn't really do much, I suspect it's your attempt at a zinger but much like todays pick.....it uh, lacks.....well, it just lacks.

Try for a patented "Benning-screw-up-Double-Down"

What else ya got? I could use a laugh.....

I strongly disagree,

I feel he relies on his skating being so far ahead of his inferior competition that he is playing a game right now that will not be possible in the NHL.

I think he may find himself in the AHL trying to re-build his entire game, I feel pretty strongly that's the case, and the Avs being what they are is why I laughed, in my mind he was the WORST choice.

But, I hope I'm wrong and the kid has a great career.

I don't think they picked Petterson just because he was playing with Dahlen. Playing together sure contributed a lot to JB and his scouts getting large number of viewing on Petterson but if the guy didn't stick out with his elite skill, they would not have picked him.

Did Vancouver pick Daniel because he was playing with Henrik?
