J-23
8 minutes ago, oldnews said: maybe because every team in the NHL has seen it - and handfuls of grade A one-timers.... I think they need to keep the powerplay 'logical' and not overthink it. You have a great pmd - you have a great right handed one-timer for the opposing half-boards - and you have a pair of versatile, heavy forwards that can win hard areas battles, retrieve pucks, create space. Move the puck (maybe a bit fewer attempts to force it though seams) and focus on getting Boeser those one-timers from the LW - teams are leaning towards taking EP away - if they do that and try to key on Boeser as well, things open up for Hughes and for Miller/Boeser in the key. No need to over-'fancy' it - play to their strengths and regardless of what the opposition 'knows' their talent will take care of it. I think the biggest mistake the team made with it's powerplay this year was outsmarting itself by reversing EP and Boeser to their off (pp) sides - neither of them have their one-timer when they do that - and it stalled an otherwise fine pp. If it aint broke, don't fix it - and even when it's not rolling, don't outsmart ourselves.
