Soooo, you’re saying we’re not going full St Louis this year…dang I was holding out for that

St Louis had a very deep blueline ( before they won that cup).  Their issue was they couldn’t score enough goals to advance in the postseason until that year.  We have a few AHLers on our blueline.  Not going to go far in the postseason with that.

Those thinking this is a power struggle between Bo and Miller, this quote was from yesterday:

As for Hirsch....he may be on the plane/bus but he's not in the room.  I've seen two reports about how it's off limits (Imac was outside the room during the broadcast...it's a no go zone).  Again, frustration's bound to seep in and he may see some of that but it doesn't mean there's an issue.  JT's obviously an alpha.   Team needs that.

WADR, him saying this doesn’t really prove anything. The fact he is saying anything about Miller at all is actually the weirdest part of that.

Wow... didn't think it was as bad as that within the group.
This must have been what was reported yesterday about locker room issues.
Sounds like at least some of the players have checked out on the coaching staff.
The end is near....

Me neither.   Tick tock.   I'm starting to think a full change is in order if these statements are accurate.   Was in the coaches corner as long as he had the room ... doesn't look like that's the case anymore if this is true.  Players that like their coach work their butts of in these conditions to keep them from being fired - in our case the record should be one or two games above .500 as the par line.   Thought we played well enough to get things back on track, especially 5 x 5.   But this is gone from not good to bad.

^^^ This is what is wrong with the Canucks.   It's not Green.  It's not any of the coaches.  It's not the forwards - it's our defense.

We only have 2 good defensemen.  Forwards are spending too much time trying to help the defense instead of being offensive.

Really watch the games, watch what happens when OEL or Hughes isn't on the ice.  Heck, if they're not together - it's still tough.

This is more Benning's fault - hasn't been able to shore up the defense enough.

If Green is let go - not one top NHL coach will want to coach here unless that defense is improved.

So Linden and Benning disagreed.  Linden thought stick to the rebuild, can't rush things, Benning said we can rush things and be good in a couple years.

Linden got fired.

Guess who was right, guess who told the owner what they wanted to hear.

Time for Benning to go.

This is still supposition.   But it's for sure a logical assumption.   Linden has not spoken up yet.   None of us know what the rift was although this seems like the obvious one.   JB didn't do a terrible job making that work under those metrics...but it might have just pushed us into the mushy middle ... PHI always comes to mind as a team with a good core that just didn't get enough.   And riding Giroux et al with no results.  Feel that's our future without some very good draft luck over the next two years.   Or some massive trades that work out heavily in our favour.

If top NHL coaches don’t want to coach in Van there are only two reasons.

1. Ownership

2. Management

I don't think there is an easy out at this point.  I thought pretty clear at the time as Linden was talking to the other GMs he trusted around the league and openly discussed that the consensus was can't rush the rebuild, then he got fired almost immediately.

Aquillini has been clear his main goal is to see the team win the cup before his very elderly father dies, I think that pressure is a big problem for the club.

I do feel that we are still lacking the two hardest thing to get, a number one centre and a quality right shot D.  Petey needs to go to the wing.  We don't need a super dynamic scorer for his centre, we need a body that can open up the ice.

OK... let's just chill for a minute... the season is still young... and.... looking at the FA market, I see 2 proven guys still available: Bobby Ryan and Brandon Pirri!! Go get 'em Jimbo!!!!

We need defense, the forwards are just fine.
